Nice hotel, great location near restaurants and train station. Full featured breakfast buffet. You can get drip coffee, dry creamer, amenities and other handy items in the lobby at any time, as is typical of good Japanese hotels. High service staff.Similar to previous review, we booked during a a serious national holiday when major cities in the region were fully booked, and Art hotel was available for a fair price, so we said why not take Shinkansen to Joetsu. We had reservations but went for it. The people at the front desk were exceptional and helped us with lots of small details. They let us check in early and helped us book buffet in advance for a discount. We plan to train to a beautiful hiking spot nearby tomorrow, so even though Lonely Planet ignores the city, perhaps that made it available to us on a holiday at a fair price. It certainly is easy to get to and right at the sea, with some history such as a castle site, etc to explore. Food looks great so give it a try.The rooms are typical smallish hotels similar to many APA, Smart Hotel, or Henna Na hotel we stayed at in Takaoka. Interiors a bit tired with some signs of wear and scaffolding on front suggests renovating but not completed yet. It was fine though and clean.Enjoying our stay at the Joetsu Art Hotel

The front desk staff is at the level of a part-time job at a rural family restaurant. Breakfast might not be bad.

I stayed here in July 2024, i was staying in a single bed size room, so the room is small, but still enough place to put a closed luggage without causing me inconvenience, but I suppose this is expected as Japan's room is usually smaller than others. The decorations seem kinda old? Or maybe it's just the design of the hotel is like that. Anyway, the room looks clean enough. They were having renovations on the outer part of the hotel, so I can't see anything outside the window as it was blocked construction site. They didn't caused any noise during morning and night, so my sleep was not disturbed.I can hear people talking outside my room, but it's not too disturbing and not often.Nearby has a lot of restaurants, and a convenience store run 24 hours(I think it's Lawson if I still remember correctly). It's only a few minutes walk from takada station. In a nutshell, the price is reasonable and the stays and service/staff are nice. The only thing I am not liking is the decorations feel kinda old, but that's just my perspective. I will stay here again in the future if I do visit joetsu again.

It was a great help for me to suddenly be able to stay overnight without meals. I think the location is good because it can be seen from the station and there are many restaurants, convenience stores, etc.
