I stayed at Miyoshiya for the first time this time because it was difficult to make a reservation at Matsunoyama Onsen even though I was staying alone on Saturdays and Sundays, and it was too expensive. The hot springs are Matsunoyama Onsen, as you might expect. My legs felt a little stiff on the first day until I got used to them, but once I got used to them, the pain in my shoulders and lower back eased considerably. Two baths, large and small, can be reserved for private use. It was quite large for one person to use, but I was happy to be able to reserve it for myself. Toilets and washrooms are shared. The voices of other customers can be heard quite well. It is not suitable for those who are nervous or seek excessive service, but is ideal for those who enjoy hot springs and hot spring town food. The cost is comparable to that of a business hotel, so it's perfect for multiple nights. Thank you very much for your help.

A hot spring inn that specializes in overnight stays.Matsunoyama Onsen, one of Japan's three major medicinal hot springsA hot spring inn with a retro Showa feel."Guest room"In a Japanese-style room, you take the futon out of the closet and lay it out yourself.Air conditioning and lighting come with remote control. It's been a long time since I saw a "coin timer" that lets you put money on TV."Bath"Completely private bath.Use the tag near the stairs to get caught on the bathroom door. There are two large baths and a small bath. It's a style that doesn't dilute with water, so you can enjoy plenty of Matsunoyama hot spring water.Since it has been renovated, the washing area is also very clean. The water is hot because it's close to the source. This is Matsunoyama Onsen! ️"toilet"There are two Western-style toilets for men with heated toilet seats."Self-cooking area"Almost all cooking utensils are available. What surprised me was the 1992 National electric rice cooker⁉️ that is still in use.And a “gas vending machine” unique to hot spring inns. There are no refrigerators in the guest rooms, so guests can share the refrigerator provided here. Be careful not to forget to write your name ⚠️Although there are detailed rules, it is a comfortable inn.The izakaya next door was also being run.

It seems that the inn and the Japanese restaurant are run by just two people, so after checking in, they have to do everything by themselves (including meals and futons). As a general rule, the bath is reserved for private use (30 minutes at a time), and if it is empty, you can use it as many times as you like between 6:00 and 22:00.There are no hair dryers or mirrors in the bathroom, so you can borrow one if you ask the host.Although it is a shared space, you can use the gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, etc. in the kitchen, so you can bring your own food and drinks to cook. This is helpful when you want to cut down on food costs, such as with your family or at a training camp. There are yakitori restaurants, ramen restaurants, and Japanese restaurants within a few seconds walk. The best part of being in a hot spring area is being able to soak your body in a hot spring and enjoy an ice-cold beer and delicious snacks! It's quite a long way to get here in the mountains of Tokamachi, but if you can abide by the rules for sharing facilities, this is a good inn where you can enjoy Matsunoyama Onsen to the fullest!

Reservations are only accepted by phone, so when I called, the first thing a male voice said was, "Yes?" I was taken aback and paused for a moment, and then I asked, ``Are you Miyoshi-san?'' This time, he answered in a blunt voice, ``What is it?'' They may have mistaken me for a sales person, but I wish they would at least say the name of the inn first.I don't expect customer service since it's a room only, but this is not too much.Afterwards, when I told him I wanted to make a reservation, he checked my schedule, but luckily (?) I was told that they were fully booked for a ski tournament. I think it was better than staying there and having a bad experience.

The hot hot spring water is irresistible. The rooms are not new, but clean and comfortable. Kotatsu is the best. The toilet and washroom are also shared, but it wasn't a problem. The host was also kind.

This is a ryokan for self-catering guests, so self-service is the norm, but if you want to have dinner or eat out, we recommend it. If you prepare your own bread and other things in the morning, it will be cheaper. Anyway, the hot spring bath is the best!
