The host takes the time to provide hospitality. A building with a good sense of history. All of the unpretentious meals were very delicious. Especially the shiny and grainy rice! The room has a very nice inn atmosphere.stomach. The bathroom was new and very easy to use.

A ryokan that has been around since the Edo period. The pillars of the building are from that time, and the rooms are very Japanese-style. The playful lattice work and sliding door handles that can be seen throughout the building are fun, and there's no denying the retro feel of the Showa-era patterned frosted glass. It was a rainy day during the rainy season, but it wasn't too hot and humid and I didn't mind the lack of air conditioning. (There is a Dyson floor fan that stands out in the room)There are three electrical outlets that are essential for modern travelers, and although there seems to be no Wi-Fi, you can connect to Docomo and au with 4G without any problems. You can draw your own futon by yourself. Separate bath and toiletHowever, the toilet is Japanese-style and stylish with a fully automatic washlet. The bathrooms are also on the same floor and clean.8,500 yen per night per person including breakfast and dinner. The food is homemade by the host and is delicious. On this day, we drove around Anrakuji Octagonal Three-Storied Pagoda (National Treasure), Daihoji Temple Three-Storied Pagoda (National Treasure), and Unno-juku (Important Traditional Building Preservation District), which was perfect for an inn with historical architecture.

Stayed one night while walking the Nakasendo. A traditional inn with good local food and spacious room with historic character intact. Bathrooms and toilets have been renovated recently and are clean and modern. The owner was very hospitable and would like to visit again. Reservation was made by phone using my elementary school level Japanese.

Hatagoya has been around for over 200 years since the Edo period. It's a historic building, and there seem to be guest rooms on the 2nd floor as well as the 1st floor. The toilet and bath are in a new annex, very modern and clean, and are connected by a passageway, making them almost one unit. On the other hand, the guest rooms are only separated by shoji screens and sliding doors, so security may be a little worrying by modern society standards. For dinner and breakfast, you can enjoy the host's own home-grown rice. The rice was sweet, slightly fragrant, and had a deep flavor. You can also enjoy delicious dishes typical of Nagano using vegetables such as Nozawana.By the way, if you walk north for about 15 minutes from here, you will find the hot spring facility ``Gongen no Yu'', which was a good way to take care of the muscles tired from walking. If you take a soak in the hotel's bath before going to bed and sleep on a fluffy futon, you can recover 100% from your fatigue overnight. When I stayed there, the cost of accommodation was ¥8,500 for one night and half board. Reservations are currently only available by phone. Yukata are provided, but toothbrushes are not provided, so it is best to bring your own. They also sell beer and other items in the refrigerator, and it seems like it's self-service where you put money in the bottle.I chose this inn as the center of my plan to walk from Karuizawa to Shimo-Suwa on the Nakasendo route in two days (*quite strenuous), and the location seemed just right. I would definitely recommend it to other Nakasendo walkers.

I stayed in a 2-room Japanese-style room. THE ryokan in a good way! is. Parking available. There was no particular inconvenience other than the height of the hallway was a little low.The room is well-cleaned and has a large TV. Although I didn't use it this time, there is also a yukata. The toilet and bath are very clean and easy to use.The toilet in particular is surprisingly spacious and modern. This makes me very happy. The host is a good storyteller and teaches me a lot of things.I would love to stay again next year.

I was surprised to find out that an inn that opened in the Edo period is still in operation today. While the exterior retains an old-fashioned atmosphere, the facilities inside are modern and new. I would like to see inns like this continue forever.

There's nothing wrong with inns that are renovated old folk houses and run by immigrants, but this inn is a historic inn that opened around the first year of Bunka in the Edo period and is still in operation today. What's more, all the plumbing has been modernized, so you can enjoy the elegance of the rooms and buildings while also enjoying the comfort of the latest baths and showers.
