4th visit to Hateruma Island. Finally, I had the dream of staying overnight at a hermit crab. Grandma Shinako welcomed me kindly, even though I came from Fukui and was very rural.I had heard that there would be no meals because it was a room-only accommodation, but on the first night of the two nights, there were not many guests staying, so I was given Grandma's special curry for free, which filled me up! On the second night, we were blessed with good weather and were treated to bubble waves with explanations of the starry sky! The old lady was so cute that she was loved not only by the people staying there, but also by the locals, so much so that I wanted to stay an extra night or two. This is an inn I would like to stay at when I come to the island again.A limited number of free bikes are available for rental on a first-come, first-served basis.

A place where you can enjoy doing nothing. From January 2024, flights will begin operating between Ishigaki Airport and Hateru. It's only available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, but you can enjoy the spectacular view of Yaeyama Blue without getting seasick. It's worth 14,000 one way.

This is an inn where you can feel at ease and the grandmother is very kind. Many of Hateruma's restaurants are closed irregularly, and food shortages can easily occur, so they often ask, ``Have you eaten your meal?'' and give you information on the island's LINE, and ``It's dangerous to walk alone at night.'' I think they are really kind to everyone who is staying the night and say things like, ``Yo,'' or ``Aren't you drinking too much?''My grandmother, who was born and raised in Hateruma, knows everything about seeing sea turtles on the beach, about shellfish, about fish, about shops, about stars, about the island...If you ask her, she'll tell you anything. , I really enjoyed chatting with my grandmother and other customers every day!If you are going to the southernmost tip, be sure to ask the old lady about it before you go!You can hear stories that you wouldn't know just by visiting! The room is cleaned, but it is a charm that some sand and insects come in due to the wind. You will be happy if you clean it lightly when you feel like it.It feels like an old grandma's house and is very relaxing. The atmosphere is more like a training camp than a guest house. When it's crowded, we share a room, but it was fun because we got to chat and get to know each other!I want to go see my grandmother again!

People who like cleanliness or don't like insects may not like it.There are some aspects that can't be helped due to the location on a remote island and the nature of the inn, but perhaps due to the off-season, the room was not cleaned and the cleanliness was not good.My mom is a very warm-hearted person who says, ``Let's look at the stars together when it's sunny,'' and I'm sure you'll become a fan once you go!There is no shuttle service, but guests can borrow two bicycles for free. The common space and accommodation rooms are separated into separate buildings.

2023/9 stay.I think this is the only cheap hotel for overnight stays that is within walking distance of Nishihama. The area is quiet and the bench outside the inn has no roof, so it's perfect for gazing at the stars at night. There are also shops nearby, where you can buy souvenirs, sashimi, and breakfast rice balls. When I stayed there, there were only working adults who liked traveling abroad and domestically, and I was not forced to do anything, so it was very comfortable.I guess it's the kind of inn where nimble people like Snufkin gather.Of course, there's no problem if you don't participate even though it's a Yuntaku-like event where everyone gathers together. It was very comfortable). The grandmother's appropriateness and personality were also good.If you are alone, you may have to share a room with someone, but personally I didn't mind.I think I will stay at this inn the next time I come to Hateruma Island.

It was my first time in Hateruma, but my grandmother and the other guests made me want to come again. There were a lot of people traveling alone, but there were also people in groups.(Added in 2023)Third stay here in 4 years.I wanted to see my grandmother for the first time in a while, so I went to stay over.I was relieved that the inn and my grandmother had not changed. If you are afraid of insects, it is better for both of you not to stay overnight. *However, it doesn't come out that far. There are also many couples and solo female travelers. Also, it is a must-go place.

Hateruma Island, the southernmost tip of Japan🏝️As of 2023, the only way to visit is by ferry. It is one of the islands that is difficult to visit unless you have a lot of time in your itinerary to get back home, as services are canceled when the sea is rough. When I visited the island, I stayed at Yadokari, a cozy guesthouse. The room was a private Japanese-style room at my grandmother's house🏠What's so unconventional about this inn is the innovative transportation.Immediately after getting off the ferry, I found a hermit crab flag and called out to the young man holding the flag.Me: “Hello, thank you for your help today.”Man: ``Hello, ah, first of all, I'm a tourist who just came here yesterday, so please take care of me.''Me: “Huh? What do you mean? (confused)😧?”I heard that the inn has a shuttle car, but since the grandmother doesn't have a license, the guests staying at the inn at that time are sent to pick up and drop off each time...How unconventional...lolAll the customers are calling me grandma and grandma, but it really feels like I'm staying at my grandma's house lol. That night, I was thinking of going out for a drink at a recommended izakaya that I had heard about beforehand, but an old woman stopped me.Me: “What?”Grandmother: ``Yes, this is it.'' (Gives 1,000 yen.)Me: “Hmm? What’s wrong?”Grandma: ``Go buy some oden from there as a souvenir.''Me: “I’m running an errand lol. Okay, I understand.”I laughed out loud even though I was a customer. The accommodation was so relaxing that it was just fun, the hermit crabs were the best🐚If you're going to Hateruma, how about an interesting inn where you can meet grandmas from the island of Okinawa?

We stayed here for 2 nights in July. My grandmother can't drive, so I accompanied her on some errands on the island by driving her car. Even though I'm a customer...On the way home, he bought beer and sashimi at the shop, and other guests also mixed in, enjoyed the nightlife, got along well with the same-sex friends, and slept with small fry by using the coin-operated air conditioner and splitting the bill.I'm sure there are some people who don't like it, but I like the way Obano deals with it. It felt like I was visiting my late grandmother's house.By the way, I heard that most parents with small children don't want to take care of them when they get bored, so they refuse.

I've only stayed here in Hateruma so I can't compare, but I hope it's helpful. It is run by an elderly woman, but a repeat customer takes care of the transportation. My grandmother is usually in her room or in the kitchen watching TV or smoking. He's not unfriendly by any means, so if you talk to him casually, he'll teach you a lot of things.Although limited to one bicycle, you can rent a bicycle for free. It's very convenient if you want to go to Nishihama or the port, and you can also go to the southernmost tip. However, it's first come, first served, so if you really want to rent one, I think it's better to use another rental bicycle. Also, if you are not physically fit, I do not recommend going to the southernmost tip by bicycle. There is a surprising difference in height. For dinner, we shared the side dishes we bought at the store with other guests and had them share some awanami. There were days when my grandmother served me stew. I caught and cut the fish, and my grandmother boiled it for us, and we all ate it. I think you can also listen to my grandmother's starry sky guide. This is by no means mandatory, so feel free to eat elsewhere by yourself. Yuntaku seems to be semi-forced at times, so that's a good thing. The downside is that during the busy season, if you were alone, you would be sharing a room, but the person next to you was snoring so loudly, and there were probably bugs all over the place. The price is reasonable, so if you can't afford to share a room, I think it's better to stay at another accommodation with private rooms, but when it comes to insects, it's best to assume that you can't escape from any accommodation on a remote island. I think. By the way, I was first shown to a private room (pictured), but there seemed to be more guests than I expected, so I was immediately moved to a shared room (lol). Also, the water pressure in the shower was the weakest ever (lol). It was September and it was hot, so I took a cold shower at Nishihama and came back. It is written all over the island, but it seems that water is precious.I was impressed by how many repeat guests there were, but even first-timers had a good time, so I think it's a nice place to stay.
