Our stay at Oga guesthouse was without a doubt one of the highlights of our 3 week biking road trip in Tohoku. The owner was most friendly and welcoming when we arrived, drenched by a 50km cycle in heavy rain. Our shoes were immediately put by the heater to dry, he organized our well needed bath and gave us hot green tea. We immediately felt at home. We chose to avail of his personally prepared dinner and breakfast options. The dinner of bear hot pot was one of the most delicious meals on our journey. Very generous portions of every ingredient needed to make a delicious meal. He certainly sold us on enjoying delicious wild bear prepare to perfection . ( Annually the authorities allow a certain amount of bear to be killed in order to control the population. ) The following day, as he had no other guests, and it was still pouring rain, he offered to bring us in his own car to visit the museum of Oga culture, which highlights the Namahage traditions. We were delighted to be given the opportunity to learn about this unique custom. We were sorry that we had to leave so soon, tied into our following reservation. But one more reason to return to explore everything Oga Peninsula and the Oga guesthouse has to offer. We very highly recommend this place.

It's built right in front of the ocean, so of course you can enjoy the view, but you can also hear the sound of the waves from the comfort of your room, so it's a hotel that soothes both your visual and auditory senses. There's nothing quite like waking up in the morning and opening the curtains to see the ocean right next to you.Recommended for those who want to enjoy their travel destination as if they were living there, where time passes at a leisurely pace!I asked in advance and had breakfast prepared for me, but due to a happy miscalculation, they prepared an elaborate breakfast like the one in the photo, which made me very happy. You can talk with the owner, Mr. Miura, and the other guests while you eat slowly.Even when I was alone, I didn't feel lonely at all.Oga Peninsula is more attractive than I imagined, and I would definitely stay here again when visiting tourist spots that I had missed.

I would like to thank you for your prompt response to my sudden accommodation request. What's more, being able to see the ocean when you wake up from your room is nothing short of wonderful. Thank you very much for taking care of me even though it was a hassle. Oh, it was the driver's black hat ☺️
