As the reviews say, the food is very delicious. This time, we ate dinner in a private room, and breakfast with the sliding doors open so other guests could join us, and it was a relaxing meal.Dinner is more delicious than at a poor restaurant. The room was clean and quiet, and it was a wonderful stay that we are sure to return to again. There is a Furusato Onsen nearby, so I used the hot spring at night and this bath in the morning, but it was so hot that I couldn't take a bath. There are two parking lots in front of the road leading to the inn. Both are unpaved, but have plenty of space. There is a soft drink vending machine at the inn. Alcohol can be served if you ask the kitchen. There is no convenience store within walking distance. The refrigerator is shared in the hallway.

AN INCREDIBLE RYOKAN EXPERIENCEThe Kii No Matsushima ryokan is a unique Japanese experience. The place is perfect for discovering the coast (the beach is 200 meters away) but especially if you want to do one of the many sections of Kumano path. The family who runs this ryokan were extremely attentive to every detail of our stay. The rooms are spacious and pleasant. The common areas are very clean, the bathrooms have a small onsen which is very pleasant at the end of the day!The highlight of the stay is the meals and breakfasts. The chef is a master of Japanese cuisine! Each dish transported us during the three nights we spent here, a treat! Local specialties are based on seafood and fish. We tasted many new flavors, always balanced and refined. We highly recommend this peaceful place, and hope to return.

Visited in March 2024, family of four.A wonderful Ryokan. Very authentic, and they go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. Its situated off the beaten path in a small town. Such a nice change of scenary from bustling Kyoto/Osaka.It’s not high-end luxury, but its a real taste of Japan that everyone should try.
