It's an unexpected stay at Susan's place. Susan and Amanda are so helpful and will answer to all our queries. The cat cafe is also very nice. The room, it's just as shown in the photos. Really traditional Machiya homestay. The surroundings are so quiet and peaceful! Just a reminder, if U choose this place, don't mind the distance to train. It's like a morning stroll. My wife and I love it. We would definitely come back here if we arein Kyoto.

It’s a wonderful place to stay: clean, cosy, quiet… but most importantly, your stay helps rescue, rehabilitate and rehome kittens and cats. Susan and Japan Cat Network (JCN) have saved so many cats all over Japan, trained and educated so many volunteers, helped so many families. The shelter is clean, the cats are happy, chubby and active. It’s one of a kind, really.Support JCN and have a great time at Maneki Machiya!

In one word, Susan is the best! She is super friendly and helpful. The house is very lovely and nicely decorated, you just feel at home. You have everything you need. It's a very nice and quiet neighborhood, out of the hustle and bustle of the city center. We met the cats twice and it was such a wonderful experience! We really admire everything you do for the street cats (and other animals) in Kyoto, Fukushima and Tokyo. We wish you all the best and keep up the good work ❤️

I stayed here per one month with my partner and my cat, in winter. The houses are pretty and cozy, and you will find all what you need to live long or short term. All the houses have an interior garden so you can enjoy the beauty of sunny and snowy days. In winter you will be provided of heaters and thick and warm blankets.Enmachi station is about 10 minutes walking. They provide you bicycles too. Bus stops are around the corner. The best part of these houses is that the profits support Japan Cat Network, a foundation which rescue stray cats and gives them in foster care or adoption. You will be able to meet the cats of the shelter with previous reservation.A lovely place to enjoy a lovely city.

Operated by an animal shelter organization known as Japan Cat Network. The houses have a nice old antiquity to jt, so would recommend for people who want to experience little bit of authentix Japnese houses. About 15 min walk toJR or subway. Bicycle rent provided.

Whenever I go to Kyoto, I stay here. Ever house in the BnB collection has wifi, washing machine and everything else you would expect in a home. Some of the homes have washer/toilet/shower outside but still private. There are bikes available to use if desired which is great as the grocery store and train station are farther than I'd like when hot or cold out. (This trip the weather was perfect for the walk.)There are cats that are available through the BnB shelter and you can arrange a playtime with them during your stay. The cats I played with are super friendly and just loved to be loved.Downsides: far distance to tourist locations, cold in winter, and hot in summer.Positives: cats, bikes, Aircon/heating, cats, free laundry, shampoo etc provided, quiet neighborhood, friendly and helpful staff, cats, pet friendly (due inquire before bring the fur baby) and your stay benefits the cat shelter.

I loved staying at this lovely guest house. It was well equipped and incredibly comfortable. While it may be slightly outside of the normal touristy areas, I always believe this is a positive, since you are able to see where people are actually living and it allows you to explore areas you normally wouldn’t. Would definitely go back!
