It was seven years ago that I took my teacher from school to Nikko. I chose this ryokan because it was within walking distance to Nikko Toshogu Shrine. The building has some old elevators, but it's quieter than other inns in Nikko, and at night you can even hear the sounds of deer. I went on foot to see Nikko, walked all day, returned in the evening, had dinner, took a bath, etc. I was glad that I was able to spend a good amount of time there, and the price was really reasonable, not outrageously expensive like other inns. I was glad that I was able to take the free bus to Nikko Tobu Station the next morning and head back to Tokyo. I have been living in the UK for the past 30 years now, and the guests from other countries joined me at breakfast, and it seemed like everyone was enjoying their trip to Nikko. The price was more than double that of other first-class hotels, but I was completely satisfied with the reasonable service and room. If I have time on my next trip to Japan, I would like to stop by and see it again.
