I went to Aso with my family for the first time in a while and stayed at a pension. Although it was Alm's first time using the facility, there was also a hot spring bath in the public bath, and the food he had been looking forward to was delicious. The Aso red beef stew is melty and delicious. The breakfast was delicious and the quantity was good.

I'm in Aso, Kumamoto. This was my last day in Kumamoto, so I was debating whether to go to a hot spring inn or an auberge.I had been to several hot spring inns in Aso and Kurokawa, but I had never been to an auberge, so I decided to... This time I decided to go to a French auberge for the first time.I think the location is about 15 minutes walk from JR Uchinomaki Station. It seems that this place used to be a pension, and it used to accommodate about 3 to 40 people every day. It has now been renovated to make the rooms larger, has a hot spring, and is operating with a limited number of guests. For dinner, we were able to enjoy a course of French cuisine. The meal starts with elaborate appetizers, soup, and wine stew using Aso's red beef.I thought the food was wonderful and made good use of local ingredients. The bread is purchased from a nearby delicious bakery and baked before eating.Breakfast includes bread, French toast, and salad. The bread was freshly baked and very delicious.I made a reservation casually, but I think it was a big hit. It was much better than staying at Kurokawa Onsen.

This is my second time using it.Last time, the two of us stayed in a small room on a weekday, but this time (December 2022) we used a separate cottage on a Saturday when it was fully booked. I would like to mainly talk about the cottage and the rock bath outside. The log house cottage has a spacious interior with a kotatsu in the winter, and even with three beds, there is still plenty of space. There are two sets of futons in the loft, which can accommodate up to 5 people in total, but it is spacious enough for 3 people.Wi-Fi is barely picking up the radio waves leaking from the main building. It's better to think that you won't be able to use it much. There is also a bath and toilet, but it is a compact bath and toilet similar to those found in business hotels. The bus was too small, so I used the rock bath outside. Rock baths are made by boiling cold springs (about 15 degrees Celsius), and may have the same effects as hot springs. When you smell it, it smells a little like gold because of the iron content. Although there is a roof and an enclosure, there is a large open area, so the room temperature is almost the same as the outside temperature. Therefore, it is comfortable to use from early summer to early autumn, and it is quite difficult to use it in the middle of winter like this time. (Those who are sensitive to cold may not be able to get out of the bathtub.) There are two rock baths, both of which can be rented out. The grounds are quite large, and although the bathtub isn't that big, it's enough for two people to use. I think this is fine because if you make it larger than this, the load on the boiler will increase. Pensions usually don't have hot springs, so I'm grateful that I can use them even if I can't use them in the morning. Since I checked in early that day, I was able to use the rock bath three times.Since meals are served in the main building, the downside is that it can be a bit of a hassle to move around on cold or rainy days.I was satisfied with the highly rated meals last time, but last time it was almost reserved, and this time it was fully booked and catered for nearly 20 people. I was a little worried that the food would be served smoothly, but I'm used to it, and although there was a bit of a wait, dinner was finished in an hour and 20 minutes. I was satisfied with the meal this time as well.

This is my second time staying here since Christmas Eve last year. It is said that renovation work will take place for two months starting in January next year, with a reopening scheduled for March. There will be fewer guest rooms, and the rooms will be larger. Minus 1 star this time because there was a long hair on my partner's bed and a clump of hair under my partner's bed. It seems that the cleaning is outsourced, and I could hear people talking while cleaning, so I wish they would at least be quiet while there were customers. I am satisfied with everything else, so I would like to go again.
