We are honored to have stayed in such a historic building. I was able to spend a quiet time in a room overlooking the courtyard. The Sozuri nabe we had for dinner and the breakfast were both very delicious and the amount was enough for one woman to eat.As a side note, there was a wide variety of craft beer, so it is recommended for those who like it.As everyone has said, the bathroom is like a larger bathroom at home, but it can be locked inside. Please note that there are no public baths or hot springs nearby. The bathroom was shared, but there was a hand washing station in the room, so I didn't have any trouble getting ready in the morning. It was a wonderful stay. I would like to see you again.

I can’t speak highly enough of this ryokan! My Dad and I visited in late March. I emailed them in advance to check about dietary restrictions, and they were very thoughtful and accommodating. The food was also absolutely delicious! Very carefully prepared with local ingredients. We had a wild duck hotpot and sukiyaki. They were very helpful with recommendations about local spots and where to go for sakura viewing (Tsuyama is great!), and it’s also so nice to hang out at the ryokan and enjoy the beautiful garden and historic atmosphere. The rooms are comfy and warm and we loved the kotatsu. They were very kind and also patient with my Japanese (which is fairly basic), and we found out one of the owners actually studied abroad near where I grew up in Australia which was an amazing coincidence! I’d love to come back one day :)

About 10 minutes walk from Tsuyama Station. Located on the side of Mt. Arne Tsuyama, you can stay as an inn, but it is actually a recommended spot for duck hotpot and sukiyaki. I'm really grateful that the staff does the cooking and serving the food for me ☺

Accommodation in late March 2023.It is one of the oldest inns in Tsuyama, and has a history where many famous people, such as Takeshi Inukai and Maresuke Nogi, have listed their names on its books. The wooden architecture, which has probably been there since its founding, has been cherished, and it is no wonder that it has been designated as a nationally registered tangible cultural property. That's not to say it's difficult to enter; on the day I stayed there, it was busy with parties and student sports camps. The room I stayed in was the ``Nogi-no-ma'' room on the second floor, which is ranked as the highest-grade room in the inn, and is literally the same room where Maresuke Nogi, a military man during the Meiji era, stayed. It consists of two rooms, both of which have a high level of workmanship such as different alcoves, shelves and transoms, and the ceiling is made of Yaku cedar. For meals, we were assigned to a separate room on the first floor, where we ate the inn's specialty, duck hotpot. The meat, the minced meat, the soup stock, and the soba noodles at the end are all exquisite. The special Junmai Ginjo from Kamo Goyo, which is the pride of local Tsuyama, is progressing lolThe plumbing in the toilets and washrooms has been updated, so you won't feel stressed at all (the bathroom in particular has been recently renovated). The futons used by Maresuke and his wife Nogi are on display at the inn, and you can feel the weight of the history of this inn and the couple's personalities (by the way, Mr. and Mrs. Nogi were involved in campaigning for compensation for the war dead after the Russo-Japanese War). He visited the Chugoku region for a long time, and is said to have committed suicide a few years later).Breakfast is Japanese food, no frills, but the taste is perfect.Although it is a long-established inn, I was very impressed with the fact that it has a commoner feel (the accommodation fees are not exorbitant unless you are particular about the room you choose). To get a feel for Tsuyama's geography and history, why not stay there with or without meals?

I've stayed at several hotels in Tsuyama, but this is the best. The duck hotpot was delicious. It seems that some people come just to eat the food. It can be used as a business inn, or even a culinary inn. An inn with such value for money. I recommend staying here if you're in the area. I feel more satisfied if I eat two meals, breakfast and dinner, rather than just breakfast.

My wife and I were both healed despite the sudden request for accommodation.I am very grateful for the attention to food and service.Due to my accommodation request on the day, I ended up eating out for dinner.Even if you look at the breakfast alone, it's worth staying in for a meal.Thank you.
