Equipped with a refrigerator, air conditioner, and WiFi, you can stay almost empty-handed. It's best to bring your own toothbrush. Hot springs are hot! But that's good. It is recommended for people who don't want to take a bath with others because they only take baths one at a time. Breakfast was very satisfying with unlimited rice and miso soup. I'm very grateful that dogs can stay at this hotel at such a low price. I would like to use it again.

This may be a good choice for foreigners looking for a nostalgic, inexpensive accommodation in Japan, but Japanese people may want to pay a little more for accommodation and have the tatami mats in the room fixed.Due to lack of resources, there does not seem to be a plan that includes dinner as of August 2024.The bath and breakfast are highly rated as mentioned in other reviews. It's unavoidable that it's old because of the price, but the negative point is that you couldn't adjust the temperature and air volume of the air conditioner in the room using the remote control. It's a good idea to bring plenty of cold drinks with you, as the baths are hot and you'll be sweaty and thirsty even when you return to your room. There are vending machines in front of the store.

I think this is a ryokan that has a great reputation.I didn't have any complaints other than the apparent cleanliness and the lack of a refrigerator in the room.I visited in August, and there were no insects indoors like the ones mentioned in the reviews. The bath is a hot spring that can be used 24 hours a day (although the water is quite hot, so you can't take a long bath). The breakfast had lots of side dishes and was very delicious. The big negative point is the appearance of the inside of the inn, including the owner of the inn. I can recommend it if you are prepared for it.This is just my personal opinion, but・Husband's clothingI was wearing a tattered T-shirt and sweatshirts. However, he has a very nice personality and I can relate to him. I think you are really missing out on your appearance.・Disorganization inside the buildingI have a lot of old things that I probably don't use anymore, and I feel discouraged.I feel that if these two points are improved, it will become a good inn that retains the Showa era charm.Dinner is not provided, so you will have to eat outside before checking in. Please note that there are no restaurants near the inn, including convenience stores. There were no vending machines inside the inn either. (Drinks are sold manually at the entrance.)

If you are looking for the BEST BUDGET STAY in Higashiyamaonsen, look at no other! This ryokan has been around for a very long time, even the building itself was from almost 100 years ago as mentioned by the owner. It is a fact that the building might be old and some people might find it unsettling. But hey, if you are looking for a real, nostalgic Japanese "minshuku" experience, here IS the place to stay. The ojisan (uncle) owner is a very welcoming and friendly person. It is so easy to talk about practically anything with him and instantly feel like you are part of the family. If you are looking for a modern and luxurious stay, this is definitely NOT the place to go. But if you are looking for EXPERIENCE, AUTHENTICITY, and a bit of NOSTALGIA, definitely give it a try to stay here for 1 or 2 nights.Disclaimer: YMMV, of course 😄

This hotel with a long history was in a nice, traditional building and was very good value for money. The onsen (steam bath) wasn't crowded, and those who stayed in the hotel could use it with ease. Most of all, the owner is a very kind and intelligent person, looking out to help his customers. I came to Aizu-Wakamatsu at Winter looking forward to boarding the Tadami line, and the owner gave me a lot of material to look at. He is also very interested in other cultures and is welcoming to customers from every country (we even discussed Dostoyevsky!) In the end, he even kindly gave me a ride to the city and some sweets. I'm glad I'm stayed at this hotel to meet it's wonderful owner. And importantly, I had a good sleep, too!And I loved the crane blanket I got ❤️❤️❤️
