This traditional Japanese Ryokan is run by a lovely elderly couple. While it's not as fancy as other newer well maintained establishments this is one of the rare places where you can enjoy authentic Edo style cosy hosting. The lady kept feeding us until we could not move :)Not sure how many more years this place will survive, definitely recommend to stay here, even for one night to help this amazing couple keep this place alive.

This is an inn with remnants of the good old days of the end of the Edo period.It's really worn out, but it feels strangely realistic.There is a vending machine right next door, and there is also a supermarket, bank, and post office within a 3-minute walk.You can also send courier serviceThe hostess is also very nice and there is a wide variety of dishes that I am satisfied with.It's a little sad that the toilet is Japanese style, but I can't help it.

The village of Hiratani, where this inn is located, has a legend of a Heike fugitive. It's quite a mountain.

Grandma is a very nice person.The building is quite old. It also doesn't feel very clean. The bath is also small. The toilet is Japanese style.A place to stay for work, not sightseeing.She also makes lunch boxes for me, which is valuable.It used to be just like this. I was impressed that it was still there. Winter is very cold.The Tamura Ryokan next door appears to be closed indefinitely.Phone lines are often unreliable during the day.

When I called the hotel the other day to ask if I could use it for a solo bicycle trip, I was told that travelers from outside the prefecture are not allowed to stay overnight. There are not many other accommodations in this area, so it was very difficult.
