Owned/operated by the most adorable family. Food was fantastic and the Onsen was super hot. It was a nice place to rest after a 14mile hike along the Kumano Kodo trails.

・The food for both breakfast and dinner is excellent and luxurious.・The bath is hot because it comes from a hot spring source.・It was tough for me because I don't like hot things.・Probably appealing to serious hot spring lovers・The room is a regular tatami room.・There are no convenience stores nearby.・The landlady had great communication skills (lol)

The accommodation was decent enough, but the host was really pushy in a way that made our stay stressful. In particular, I found it infantilizing how she kept telling me how to eat my food (e.g., instructing me to mix certain ingredients with certain dishes) and it was weirdly violating how she kept touching my food (e.g., she took the liberty of pouring soy sauce onto my eggs and dumping fish flakes into my rice in the middle of my breakfast). I tried to communicate my discomfort in various ways that were all ignored. Ultimately, she just made me so uncomfortable that I couldn't wait to get out of there. This was not a cultural mixup, as no one else in Japan (or any other country I've visited for that matter) has crossed my boundaries like that.

Stop touching my food. The place was good in many respects, but at meal time, the boss lady frequently grabbed food from my table to explain it to other guests. Please just let me eat in peace, without bringing my meal to someone else's table, pouring soy sauce on it, and then delivering it back to me like some demonstration. I find that disrespectful.

I am a repeat customer again and again! When I come to Yamane-san, I feel like I'm home😊✨💖The fact that there is no shower in the bath, and the fact that it is so hot that you have to let it cool down before you can enter it, makes us, who are so blessed in this day and age, so inexperienced. Go back! It makes me feel relieved to hear that 💖 I absolutely love the atmosphere that can only be experienced here! ! The food prepared by the very particular proprietress is also extremely delicious! Food worthy of a luxury inn! I want to go again soon💖😊✨🙏

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The older couple that own it are delightful. They didn't speak much english but her animated descriptions were very entertaining. The food was excellent. …

This is a guesthouse run by an old woman who misunderstands the spirit of hospitality. Have the people here never stayed anywhere? The more I think. Kumano beef is certainly delicious, but I would like to eat my meal more quietly. Even though I had asked for pickles in advance, why did I leave the pickles that I had pickled? I was scolded.Once you stay here, you can't resist staying anywhere else.
