Our group of 8 had booked Hakken by Active Life but were transferred to Xplore. We had heard and read some negative reviews, but we found the staff to be very friendly and extremely helpful. …

We were reluctant to stay after a spate of bad reviews but were pleasantly surprised by the brilliant location, spacious room and the service provided by Prea and the team. The hotel definitely needs some love, the public bath needs to be open for more hours of the day and generally the place needs investment, but if you want something convenient to the mountain, it works a treat. Special thanks to the team for doing there best to provide gluten free food options .

After reading some of the reviews we were concerned about this place. However, we had a different experience. I had a Japanese queen room with an en-suite. The room was clean, cosy & everything worked. There’s a decent dry room to store ski gear, a public bath to soak your muscles after a long day on the slopes & free laundry self service. The room rate includes breakfast which is substantial with eggs made to order plus other options including cereal, salads and drinks. The staff were friendly, helpful & responsive they included Eliot, Cat & Preia. The things that perhaps requirement improvement include the single lift being out of service, only 1 drier (of 2) working & some challenges with the public bath temperature being too hot but they cooled it down for us. I booked very early & got a good rate so I think it’s value for money for what I paid. I would recommend this place for others who are looking for a basic & comfortable stay.

We had rooms 314 and 315.Our rooms were both huge with a queen and single inside. Both had brand new bathrooms and were clean and well presented.Lift doesn’t work but there is only a few flights of stairs.Breakfast was above expectations with the eggs made to order and bacon and Frankfurt’s plus many other cold options and types of toast.Staff are really nice and welcoming and helpful. Call out to the breakfast crew and Cat,Prea and Elliot. But they were all great. The tv did not work and the wifi was patchy but that’s not what we came for.Free laundry is good but needs an additional dryer.Building needs some tlc but it seems like this is in the process of being addressed slowly. We booked early so had a pretty good rate.Overall would I recommend it and stay again - yes for sure. Hence the positive rating.I would disregard the recent disgruntled reviews. Although they did worrry us before arriving.

Time to give this place a fair review after being smashed by a couple of disgruntled customers.Pros: Big rooms, clean rooms, very comfy beds (website wasn't lying). Service was really good, staff were lovely and always happy to help. All of our bedding was new. Great location, nice view. Breakfast was actually pretty good, about what you would expect for a 3 star hotel (nothing fancy but a good range). Internet was fast.Cons: Smell, the whole hotel had a musty smell to it which is quite off-putting when you first walk in. A lot of things were broken, i.e only one very old dryer that everyone was fighting over, elevator was out of service, downstairs toilets were out of service, safe not working, tv not working. The heater in our room was dripping water out of a valve all the time. No fridge. The rooms definitely need an air purifier because the windows can't open.I later found out through the rumour mill that the hotel was closed for two years and just before they reopened they had a massive pipe burst. This explains the musty smell and a lot of the broken stuff.Summary.Look, I get things go wrong and no-one can control that, but considering the smell and the out of service items it definitely felt overpriced. At the end of the day if you pay for a service and you don't get what you expected/advertised then people will not be happy. If the smell wasn't there and the things weren't broken then the price would have been in accordance with service/product experienced.I think if you have already booked this place, still go ahead, you will have a great time. Hopefully they do a lot of maintenance over the coming weeks. I think it deserves 3.5 stars, but I'll round up to counteract the other reviews.

Worst place I have ever stayed. Avoid this place at all costs. Nothing works and as far as I can tell they have just splashed paint on some walls. Lift does not work, safe in room does not work. …

Had a good experience in the hotel -- we snowboarded during our stay and the room was large enough to unpack our gear and get out quick! The drying area was near the exit, so we didn't have to go through unnecessary flights of stairs. …

+ Close to the lift, western bed, private bathroom, warm breakfast, clean sheets, fluffy pillows. Front desk staff and owner was very helpful for any troubles. Ski drying room conveniently located at the 2f with its own entrance/exit. …
