I really enjoyed my stay at Guest House Oku! The owner, Yoko, is so kind and made me feel really at home. I also loved having the chance to chat with the other visitors and hear about their travels. If I am staying in the Nara area again in the future, I would happily return here.

I had such an amazing and memorable stay here! The guest house has a heartfelt atmosphere, and the place offered me an authentic Japanese experience. The dorm rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable, and the beds were big. What really stood out too was the incredible hospitality from Yuko-san, the owner. From the moment I arrived, her kindness and warmth made me feel at home. As a female solo traveler, it felt like visiting a familiar place I had been to many times. There's also a guitar and some unique instruments available for any musicians passing through. Great location, and I will definitely be coming back whenever I’m in Nara!

I stayed for one night while attending an academic conference and visiting USJ with my family. When we arrived, they served us ice cream and barley tea.We had a private room with two bunk beds for the three of us, but they also had nice sleeping curtains for our middle school daughter. The air conditioner was working and the room was quiet so I slept very well. The morning my family left for USJ, we left just after 6am, and they were able to borrow a freezer to freeze our drinks and provide ice for our water bottles, which was really helpful. Thanks to all of you, I was able to go around USJ well and it seems like I had a lot of fun.We were also given various information about Nara. It's also close to Kintetsu Nara Station, so you won't have any trouble finding food or shopping. When we were staying there, there were also foreigners staying there.Staying at a hotel may be convenient, but it doesn't bring the fun of meeting new people. Some people may be reluctant to stay at a guesthouse because they have to share showers and washrooms, but it's fun to meet new people. If you are coming by car, the guesthouse itself does not have a parking lot, but the coin parking lot (OnePark Takatenichicho) located one street south is cheap. When we went there, it cost 500 yen for 24 hours, and you can use it with confidence as it can be used repeatedly (be careful as the streets are narrow in some places). If you want the navigation to guide you, there is an apartment building called ``Takaten Green Heights'' next door, so it might be easier to go there.

This is a very nice place. The person who manages it is a great host, attentive and helpful. Interested in one, may your entire stay be well. My reservation did not include breakfast, and yet he treated me to coffee, cookies, and even some flan. If I return to Nara, I would definitely return here.

Guest House Oku in Nara, Japan, is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of convenience and tradition. From the moment you step through its doors, you're greeted with the warm embrace of Japanese hospitality.Location-wise, it's a traveler's dream. Just minutes away from both the train and bus stations, it offers unparalleled accessibility to Nara's myriad attractions. Whether you're drawn to the ancient temples, serene parks, or bustling markets, everything feels within arm's reach from Guest House Oku.Stepping into the accommodation itself is like entering a portal to old-world Japan. The traditional Japanese setting immerses you in a culture rich with history and charm. The spacious and meticulously clean rooms provide a sanctuary of comfort and tranquility. Despite the jet lag from traveling all the way from Canada, restful nights are almost guaranteed here.Yet, what truly sets Guest House Oku apart is its remarkable host, Oku-san. Her unwavering dedication to her guests goes above and beyond expectations. Despite the late hour of your arrival from Narita Airport, a journey spanning five hours, Oku-san greeted you with nothing but warmth and understanding. Her patience and genuine care shine through, making you feel not just like a guest, but like a cherished friend. It's experiences like these that leave an indelible mark on travelers. Guest House Oku isn't just a place to lay your head; it's a home away from home, where the spirit of Japanese hospitality thrives. It was an incredible experience! (すごい !!!! 🤪) Yoko took great care of us and the place was traditional and warm, we couldn't dream of better. She even brought our two huge suitcases to the room while we were gone even though the overpriced hotels we booked don't do this...Don't hesitate and go for it! You will not be disappointed 🥰Thanks again for everything Yoko! Looking forward to seeing you again...
