A lovely and comfortable stay. The meals are excellent. The owner is an amazing cook, who incorporates local specialties into her menus. She speaks English well and was so helpful. I returned to stay again at the end of my Henro trip and she let me leave a bag at Urokoro. A smaller thing but important to me, she lent me a marker and took photos of me with my Happy Father's Day sign. The Japanese style rooms are spacious with comfortable bedding, the bath is great, and a washer and dryer are available.

Great owners and delicious food. Was extremely grateful for their hospitalitySoaked to the bones by a typhoon on the Henro trail, I showed up before check in time and was promptly provided with towels, my shoes were put on a dryer and the room was made available. The home cooked meals were the best I had during my 3 weeks on Shikoku. So, so thankful.

We stayed at about 45 different lodgings walking the Shikoku Henro in 2024 including minshuku, ryokan, hostel, inn, business hotels and Shukubo. This was our favorite and the one we came back to before we flew home. It is very close to Temple 16, Kannon-ji and on the way to Temple 17. Urokorou is run by an exceptional family of chefs making every meal special. I found an article online that speaks of the deep roots this family has to their 5th generation ryokan and to their elevated skill and training with Japanese cuisine. The food was creative and delicate and memorable (more on that below) and the owner Takuma and his family are kind, generous and so incredibly helpful to Henros. In addition to providing a clean and spacious room and a separate lovely tiled shared bathtub for soaking tired muscles, Chiaki (one of the professional chefs and family innkeepers), helped us with calls to find reservations further down the road, provided an affordable shuttle service for our packs so we didn't have to carry them to our next destination (one of our longer walks in the rain), allowed us to ship items back to her attention to be held until we returned to stay at the end of our trip, and scheduled a spa treatment for me before returning home (shout out to Tomari spa). There were 3 of us traveling together and all 3 of us loved our stays here. So back to the food. We asked for vegan meals with the exception of added fish for one of us. The meals were spectacular! Pictures couldn't possibly do justice to the unique combinations and delicate balance of flavor each dish delivered. Because we experienced these meals so early in the pilgrimage, it set the bar very high. We only experienced a few meals that even came close to the quality and creativity that we enjoyed at the tables here. Chiaki was kind enough to explain to us how they prepared some of our favorite dishes and sent recipes home with us. Chiaki and Takuma also brought menus out before meals on a notebook which allowed us to learn about the many new ingredients we enjoyed. On our last night, Chiaki made me a delicious vegan lemon birthday cake, as she and my husband planned the special surprise in advance. It was such a perfect cake; moist, dense (but not too dense), delicately lemon and delicious.

Amazing stay and help from the owners! Clean and big bedroom and bathroom with all the essentials. Very comfortable bedding as well! Delicious dinner and breakfast that really made our day :) Owner went out of her way to help us to help us to call and check our next day's accomodation as we had no Japan number and even after we checked out. Highly recommend!!

The best stay on the Shikoku 88 pilgrimage. Fantastic food prepared carefully by a family trained at one of the best culinary schools of Japan. From start to finish I was amazed with the friendly service. The food was next level amazing ( and amazingly priced). Locally sourced high quality food prepared with fine dining skill. I would give 7 out of 5 if I could.I don't know how people can give 4 stars to this place when they found it amazing, clean and great value.

A really enjoyable, traditional Japanese-style hotel. I had a huge room for myself. Nicely decorated with a big table and soft & warm futon to sleep on. The dinner and breakfast were fantastic and the staff are super-friendly and helpful. I wouldn't book something like this everynight as the price is a bit steep, but it is totally worth its money doing it once in a while!

If you are walking the 88 temples this is a great place to stop. It is super close to temple 16 and really close to 4 other temples as well. They will even come and pick you up from a few of the closer temples too! The food was amazing especially for the price. For breakfast and dinner I believe it was ¥2000 and there was a ton of food, plus in the morning they asked if I liked natto (I dont) so they brought me yogurt with homemade apple jam instead. The room was huge and really comfortable. The bathroom is shared and so is the bath but it has a huge tub and locks so you have the whole thing to yourself. The facility is a little on the older side but it is clean and charming. If I come back to Tokushima I will definitely stay here again!
