Excellent place. There are both indoor and outdoor baths. The water is 100% natural hot spring without circulation. The water smells sulfate and slight sulfide. The open air bath is huge. The facilities are old but clean.

There is an open-air bath where you can swim, and it was a very large open-air bath that makes you think that it was once a fish preserve.Unfortunately, on the day I visited, although the weather was nice, it was windy and cold, and the open-air bath was so lukewarm that I almost cried😅 I enjoyed the indoor bath. The water is smooth and has a slight sulfur smell, but the water is slightly alkaline and is said to be very good for wounds. The building itself was quite large and clean, and there were almost no customers, so it was a hidden hot spring.

When I was still staying there, it was customary for my family to stay there at the end of the year. I came to Yamagata for work for the first time in a long time with fond memories, so I thought I'd try the hot springs, but I was told that I couldn't go in due to construction. Unfortunately I wasn't able to go to the hot springs, but I was able to see the inn where I was staying and it was nostalgic. I would like to come again if I have a chance.

I came to Obanazawa to eat soba, and then I tried to stop by Ginzan Onsen, but it seemed crowded, so I went to Akakura Onsen, a day-trip only hot spring, for the first time.Even though it was a Saturday during the fall foliage season, there was only one group of guests with children, and the hot springs were reserved for private use.The hot springs are alkaline and have a source of 69 degrees Celsius, and there are no heating or addition of water. There are 3 indoor baths and 3 outdoor baths, each with its own temperature adjustment. There are lukewarm water, hot water, and boiling water, and the lukewarm water is an open-air bath where you can swim like a pool. It's really the best. If you dive, you can reach the women's bath, so be careful. The bathing fee is 500 yen for one hour. There is a rest area in the large hall for an additional fee, but meals are not provided, so you will need to bring your own food. When I asked the lady at the reception desk, she said that the number of customers is always around this level, so if you want to enjoy the hot springs in peace and quiet, I think it's a hidden gem.

As of October 2022, regular holidays are Thursday and Friday.Recommended if you want a large bathtub in Akakura. There are bathtubs with various temperatures.I was happy to be able to choose my preferred temperature. The open-air bath where you can swim was not warm enough at certain times, butI used it as a jet bath. It's perfect for relaxing in a hot spring in the mountains.

The open-air bath, which had a spacious and open feel that felt like a pool, was truly a highlight. It's surprisingly shallow so breaststroke might be difficult 😅 You can take a slow soak in the lukewarm hot springs. The indoor bath was hot and you could really feel the sulfate spring feel. It also has a nice artistic atmosphere.

We are not currently accepting overnight stays, and are open for day trips only ♨️It's old and I can't say that the cleaning is that thorough, but it's a hot spring that's flowing directly from the source and has a thick and pleasant feel ☺️✨There is one indoor bath, three outdoor baths, and one of them is a ridiculously huge pool bath lol❗️It's great on a nice day. However, I wonder how long the hot water hasn't been replaced...There was a lot of algae on the walls, so the cleanliness is a mystery💦It seems like there used to be a big hotel here, and although it was destroyed in a fire, the large public bath is still there, and it looks like an inn was built using that space 🙄🤚

The water temperature in the bathtub is 42-43 degrees because the source water is over 60 degrees and not diluted, but the water temperature in the vast open-air bath was just right. However, it is too vast and has no charm.

I went inland for work and wanted to relax in a hot spring by myself, so I paid 7,300 yen for an overnight stay with two meals in the evening and breakfast.I made a reservation because I was attracted by the low price, quietness, and bath.innSince it's in the mountains, there were some insects, but it was very well kept and had a clean feel. I'm grateful that it must be difficult to keep it this clean in such a large space. And quiet! The only sounds you can hear are the voices of insects and the sound of the wind flowing through the trees.bathYou can use the bath where you can swim. You don't have to swim, but it just feels so liberating! It's a bit disappointing that you can't come in at night. However, the indoor bath is open 24 hours a day. The windows there are large, and you can turn on the light yourself and enter without permission, so I purposely entered the room in total darkness. The water temperature is quite hot as no water is added. But it feels so good and makes you tingle to the core. The outside bath seemed to get a lot colder, so it was a good temperature.mealTo be honest, I didn't have high expectations, but both the evening and morning meals were delicious. It wasn't the typical tempura or chawanmushi, but a normal meal prepared by the landlady, but with different inland side dishes and seasonings. I was very grateful for that.Since the food is prepared by one person, it may be prepared in advance and may be a little cold, but it feels like the food was prepared by a busy mother, so that's all good.Unfortunately, it was raining that day, so I couldn't see the starry sky, but if the weather was nice, I would like to see the starry sky again from the pitch-black indoor bath.

Apparently there was a lodging plan a long time ago, but now it's basically day trips only, and depending on the time of year, you can even play golf next door.Shampoo and body soap includedYou can really swim in the open-air bathDepending on the season, it can be hot or cold, but I think that's charming, and I also enjoy that.Men's baths: 2 open-air baths (small), 1 open-air bath (large), and 1 indoor bath.Sometimes hot spring eggs, 10 pieces, ¥450
