If you want a traditional, simple place to stay, Tokyo Ryokan is a great choice. There are only three rooms available, so book in advance if you can. The rooms are neat and tidy and despite being traditional, have power outlets and even AC (although the AC is not separate for each room). Given the traditional arrangement, the walls are thin so keep that in mind. Wi-Fi is available. The bathroom, while is common for all guests, is also kept clean.Kenichi-san, the owner, speaks fluent English and is very friendly and helpful. He can help you find your way around, advice which way to go depending on whether you want get somewhere faster or cheaper and suggest others sights you might be interest in. Likewise, he can help you find a good place to eat, whether you want a smaller establishment mostly visited by locals, or a more tourist-oriented place. If you want to just chat, be it about Japan, your own home country, or anything else, Kenichi-san is a great companion. The building is located on a small side street in Asakusa, which offers some peace from the bustling of the city, while remaining within a short walking distance from every necessary spot, be it a subway station, a laundry, a convenience store, supermarket or restaurants and bars. Thanks for everything, Kenichi-san and Tokyo Ryokan.-Mira

Small but nice and comfortable rooms, a shared bathroom. If you don't mind sleeping on a futon, this place is just perfect. Unbeatable value for what it costs, great location. It really feels like living in a Japanese neighborhood. The owner is lovely and helpful in every way. I really loved stying here!

I am very happy that I found TokyoRyokan. It is very well located on a quiet street in the popular Asakusa area (Taito District). There is public transport, small shops and good restaurants in the immediate vicinity. I rented the whole small ryokan and lived on the ground floor in the lounge, near the bathroom and toilet. This room is very pleasant, decorated in Japanese style, and very cozy. I missed absolutely nothing. What was particularly nice was the attention, friendly sympathy and care that the host Kenichi-san showed in advance via email contact and then during my four-day stay at the TokyoRyokan. The support on the perhaps unusual topic that interests me has been incredible. I am very grateful to Kenichi-san for this.I would stay at the TokyoRyokan again at any time and can highly recommend it.

Tokyo Ryokan is a small (only 3 rooms!) and simple ryokan in the Asakusa area in Tokyo, tucked away in a small and calm street. The location is perfect to explore Tokyo - not far from two metro stations and also near to the lively centre of Asakusa. The ryokan's owner speaks English really well and is open and very helpful and generous with recommendations for whatever you might be looking for!The rooms are small and simple on the second floor of the building. The toilet and shower are shared with other guests on the ground floor. There is also a nice common room downstairs, with a "shared living room" feeling.I stayed at Tokyo Ryokan with a friend for my first week of a journey through Japan and it was just perfect for our start of this trip and a great base while visiting Tokyo. If you are visiting in winter, I highly recommend to also go to the nearby public bath. Kenichi from Tokyo Ryokan will give you directions ;).

Everything was perfect! The special attention that Kenichi gave to our stay was undoubtedly unforgettable in terms of experience. It offered us a variety of taste pleasures, helped us resolve somewhat complex situations and provided valuable teaching to my children. This place is magical. The only risk? Want to settle there 😄!

The ryokan in Kenichi is great and even though I don’t speak Japanese well and English, I will happily recommend many attractions. A very pleasant experience, I will come again if I have the chance!

This has to be the best guest house I have ever stayed in. Right from the booking to my departure, I was treated like a highly valued customer. For those people wanting a luxury stay, this is not the place for you. It if you want a great location, with great service then be sure to book early as they frequently get booked out.

A very welcoming, kind and generous host. We stayed 4 nights. Our host had many local and tourist recommendations that were all wonderful experiences. We also had many thoughtful and fun conversations that made our transition to a 4 week holiday in Japan even richer. Thank you Kenichi and family.
