Book at a discounted price on the Klook website or KKday website, take the Skyliner train🚆 from Narita Airport, and arrive at the final stop, Ueno Station, in 40 minutes and a 5-minute walk to an affordable 3-star hotel. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were spacious like a Korean hotel and had everything you need, and the surrounding area was Ameyoko Market, similar to Namdaemun Market in Seoul, so there were various restaurants and shops. If you take the subway 🚇 next to where you got off the Skyliner train, you can reach other downtown areas of Tokyo in 10 to 30 minutes. When traveling abroad, there are times when you suddenly want to eat Korean food. If you type 'Marukin Ueno' on Google Maps at the hotel entrance, 'Marukin Handmade Kimchi Shop' will appear, and 'Marukin Handmade Kimchi Shop', run by Koreans in Japan, is a 1 minute and 30 second walk away. Arriving at the 'grocery store', there were all kinds of Korean food, including Korean snacks, ramen, kimchi, salted fish, side dishes, Korean beer, and makgeolli. It was also nice that there were Korean restaurants right next to it, including Daemun Restaurant Masangwan and Haeundae SEOUL, which are run by Koreans living in Japan. In the basement of the hotel, there is a public bathhouse♨️ with separate men's and women's baths. Guests can use it for free from 3pm to 8am the next morning. If you put on the robe provided in the room, put on slippers, and bring a bath towel, you can go into the warm bath and relieve fatigue. It was great to be able to relax, and the bathroom had toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors, shaving foam, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel.As I returned to the hotel after touring downtown Tokyo, I noticed that there were many restaurants around the hotel, but it seemed rare to find restaurants serving breakfast early in the morning, so I asked the hotel front desk about breakfast for the next day around 10 p.m., and found a gentleman in his 50s or 60s. Owner Lee Shin made a reservation for breakfast for the next day for 1,100 yen (10,000 won at the exchange rate of the date of stay), and the next day, you can eat a full breakfast consisting of rice + miso soup + grilled fish + 6 side dishes + coffee at the restaurant on the second floor of the hotel from 7 am. It was nice to have it, and the owner who was at the front desk the night before greeted us at the breakfast counter. There were many 2-4 star hotels around, so competition was very fierce, so it seemed like the owner was working hard to run the hotel himself.

Very satisfied. I stayed in a smoking room in a tatami room, and the smell of cigarette smoke wasn't too bad. If you are not sensitive to smells, I don't think there will be any problem. The subway station is really close, and Ueno Market is right next door, so it was nice to be able to visit the market and then rest at the hotel before heading out. Also, there are many Ijikaya, so it's fun to choose. The hotel staff are very friendly, and although the main bath on the first basement floor is small, it is perfect for relieving fatigue.I don’t think there is any accommodation this satisfactory for the price!

Although the facility was old, it was well-cleaned and comfortable. However, the Wi-Fi connection was difficult and almost useless.

Imagine a hotel that doesn’t perform regular maintenance. Decor looks like it’s left from the late 80’s or early 90’s. Everything is old and falling apart. There were cracks in the bath units, mold in the cracks, flies and bugs coming out of the bathroom with the constant smell of a urinal. The public bath wasn’t much better but was a welcome alternative to bathing in the room. The lockers were rusty. Also disappointing is that it’s advertised that they have wifi, however, they had signs printed that said they were not working in the rooms. You had to be in the lobby to use the wifi. The signs looked like they had been there for a while so again, the lack of maintenance was apparent. The redeeming qualities were that the staff was really nice and welcoming, the temperature in the room was always comfortable, the public bath water has a disconcerting fuschia color but the added minerals left my skin feeling very soft and smooth, and they had nicer bath products than your average business hotel that you picked up in individual sized sample packets in the lobby. I also surprisingly slept really well on their firm mattress. But yeah, hard pass on returning here.

Stayed here with 4 children, ages 9 and 6.Glamping room with tatami room. After entering the room, I asked for an extra futon, and it was immediately accommodated. It was a pleasant service with no additional charges.Although it is old, it is well kept. It can't be helped that the plumbing is old. I don't mind how old it is, so I feel like it's a good hotel from the Showa era that I'd like to visit again, as long as it keeps its cleanliness.
