I have traveled to many places. It's been a while since I last used a guesthouse. We would like to share detailed information about this inn, although it may have the characteristics of being geared towards trekking/mountain climbing users in Yakushima due to the coronavirus pandemic. This guesthouse has many restrictions and rules.① Check-in is at 16:00. I couldn't get in even 30 minutes beforehand, and there was no information about luggage storage.②When you arrive, call the doorbell at the entrance. When I said "excuse me" without using the chime, I was warned to use the chime. I was stunned to see that there wasn't even a single "Thank you for your hard work." After that, the rules of this inn were explained to me like a machine gun.I will introduce its contents little by little.③Baths are available from 16:30 to 19:00. Once you are able to enter, there are times when the owner will guide you, and times when they will not. On the first day, I was asked to take the women's bath if I could, and although I am a man, I reluctantly went into the women's bath. This is probably due to customers coming later or to cut costs. After taking a bath, you must cover the bath to prevent the temperature of the water from dropping. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there are two washing areas and the bathtub is not that big, so I would like to take a bath by myself, but sometimes the bathtub is not empty and I have to leave the room and check several times to see if it is empty.④Dinner is only served at 18:30.Many people write in reviews that it's delicious, but it's just so-so. The menu focuses on local fish. I posted a picture after spending 5 nights, so you can see it clearly. No expensive ingredients are used. When dinner is over, we will notify you over the intercom that dinner is over. Then you will be asked what time your breakfast will be for the next day. Breakfast time is from 7am to 8am.⑤There are two washing machines and two dryers that can be used free of charge, including powder detergent. No fabric softener was found. Hours of use are 16:00 to 21:00.You can also use the outdoor drying area (with hangers) for free.During the explanation, I was told not to wash my shoes. I was also told not to hang damp clothes in the room because Yakushima is humid and mold grows. This is also a machine gun-like caution.⑥There is no TV. You can use wireless LAN instead. Some of my customers are early in the morning, so I feel like I have to be quiet. I watched it on my computer with earphones.⑦There are 10 rooms in total in the guesthouse, but they were filled from the back (the side with the toilet). According to the store owner's explanation, it's about cutting costs...Even though I had to be concerned about the sound, I felt like the customer's feelings were secondary. Unfortunately the walls are thin.⑧You must separate your garbage. Peel off the label from the plastic bottle. There is a place to throw away all empty cans and bottles outside the room.Throw your lunch box in the trash can near the entrance. There are trash cans in the room, but be careful.⑨There is no refrigerator in the room. There is a small shared refrigerator near the entrance. You must put the drinks you bought here, and when you finish drinking them, you must put them here. It's a little troublesome.⑩It is no exaggeration to say that there are no convenience stores in Yakushima. An 11-minute walk one way from "Ippachi" and a supermarket (Tanaka) with the best selection of products.A 25-minute one-way walk? There is an A-corp. It is very inconvenient for those who do not have a rental car.⑪Before breakfast time, the owner will inform you that you should bring breakfast. At that point, you have to fold the futon and put it in the closet. I have posted a picture of the breakfast, so you can see it by looking at it. Kagoshima is one of the country's leading tea producing areas, and Yakushima is also cultivated, but is the tea served here Genmaicha? It's not very tasty.I assumed that Yakushima would not have a lot of food and drink options, so I chose a cheap guesthouse for 5 nights, but I felt uncomfortable and cramped here. I hope this will be helpful to you regarding your stay.
