This is a mountain hut near Jomon Cedar. The gaps in the wood are filled with silicone, and light shines through the gaps, making it relatively bright during the day.

I used it several times when traveling across Yakushima. It's usually raining heavily when I come here. The hut has three floors and can accommodate a total of 15 people. The water source is a bit far because you have to go to Jomon Sugiyoko to draw water.

I stayed for one night on July 10, 2024.I took the bus that arrived at Kigensugi at 10:27 and climbed from the Yodogawa trailhead, but I was able to arrive before dark. On this day, there was heavy rain, strong winds, and thunder at one point, so I didn't take much of a break, but I think I'll be able to arrive before daylight even if I take a break. On the way back, I left at 5:00 a.m. to catch the bus from the Shiratani Unsuikyo trailhead at 10:50 a.m. I didn't know the time interval, so I arrived at 9:30 a.m. without taking a break. So, I think you can basically make it in time even if you take a break and go to Taikoiwa, but I think you will have more time if you don't go. However, I personally cannot recommend it because it is a time-consuming and emotional climb.

I often come across Yaku deer while trekking. They are smaller than mainland deer and have cute eyes. The male's horns (which are replaced in summer) are velvety and very beautiful. When I gave him popcorn, he ate it well. Good memories of Yakushima.

Although the hut is a little small, it feels relatively new and clean and a little brighter than the Yodogawa hut and the Shintakatsuka hut.I used the tent site, and the deck was comfortable and easy to sleep on.The inconvenient point is that there is no water source until you reach Jomon Cedar. If you are coming from Mt. Miyanoura, make sure to get water at Shin-Takatsuka Hut, and if you are coming from Shiratani or Arakawa, don't forget to get water before reaching Jomonsugi.

Kim Seong-jin, a Korean national, has gone missing on this mountain. Climbers, it would be helpful if you took a look around you again. Thank you.
