I visited in June 2024.It seems to be an old inn, but it seems like the exterior and interior have been recently renovated, and the whole thing is stylish and very clean. Cold water from the beech forest was provided next to the sofa table at the front desk, which I was very grateful for as I was able to quench my dry throat at this time of year.Meals were served in a semi-private room with chairs and tables, which gave a sense of privacy and was comfortable without having to sit cross-legged.Dinner was very delicious with a well-balanced menu of local vegetables, salt-grilled rockfish, and beef steak. Breakfast was a well-balanced and healthy menu consisting mainly of vegetable hotpot, hot spring eggs, salad, and yogurt. Once you are seated, your rice and soup will be brought to you, and I was happy to see the attention to detail, such as keeping the rice bowl warm. There were indoor baths for men and women, and they were clean and at a suitable temperature, so we could enjoy the hot water slowly. All of the outdoor baths are hot, except for the ``warm'' Kuma no Hand Wash Bath nearby, so it's nice to have an indoor bath where you can relax. The young proprietress was very kind to us during our stay, including recommending the outdoor baths, consulting on making hot spring eggs, lending tools, information about local festivals, and showing us the highlights of fireflies. Thank you.As a side note, both the young husband and the young landlady are winter sports athletes, and the young landlady seems to be (or is she?) a professional snowboarder.

Looks like it has been renewed! The partition in the restaurant's dining area was semi-private so you could enjoy your meal with a special feeling! That idea is amazing! I wish other inns were like this!

I can not recommend Nakajimaya Ryokan highly enough. The accommodation is authentic, clean and honestly a fantastic experience. The rooms have sufficient space, are comfortable and clean. The owners are incredibly kind, welcoming people and you can't help but smile when you are around them. It is close to everything, I genuinely couldn't fault anything. If I'm lucky enough to return to Nozawa, I would 100% come back to Nakajimaya Ryokan.

Great place with its own Onsen. A little further away from the ski field than I would like, but that is the only compromise. Includes a drying room. If I came back to Nozawa Onsen, I would definitely stay there and store my skis, poles and boots at the ski field every day for a small fee.

My wife and I were going on a hot spring trip once a year, so we just decided on Nozawa Onsen and made the reservation without thinking too much (sorry!).The location was a little difficult to find, but the host guided us to the parking lot and gave us detailed directions to the hot springs even though it was a busy time before dinner. The room was available and I was upgraded to a 10 tatami room, so I was able to stay in a spacious room. The indoor bath was relatively large and I was able to fully enjoy it.I made a reservation for a small dinner, but it was more than enough.Breakfast was also ample and tasted satisfying. When visiting the public baths, Kuma no Hand Washing Bath is conveniently located right in front of you, and Kamiderayu is also nearby. The other hot springs are at the bottom of the hill, so it's a little far away, but I think it's just the right distance for a walk.
