I stayed at the end of March 2019. Since I came as part of a ski tour package, I had to check in early and was welcomed even though it was early in the morning. Some people don't say much about the landlady, but I think she's a good person. The room has a kotatsu, a large TV, and heating. The heating will turn on immediately after you turn it on. I could see the mountains from the window. There is no toilet in the room, but there is one on both the first and second floors, so I don't think it will be a problem. As for the bath, it felt like warm water was being circulated, so the water never got cold even when I was in the bath. For skiing, there is a drying room, so even if your gloves and socks get wet, they will be completely dry the next day and you will be comfortable. The morning and evening meals were very delicious, with warm miso soup, nozawana, seasoned seaweed, daily side dishes, egg-based dishes, and white rice. The kinpira that was particularly delicious that day. The meal progresses. For dinner, a hotpot for one person is prepared every time. Also, stews, daily side dishes, simmered dishes, Nozawana, etc. There are no keys in the room for valuables, but there is a locker on the first floor where you can leave your valuables, so don't worry. This guesthouse is well-located, with the bus stop and Nakao-no-Yu being about a 3-minute walk, the ski resort about a 5-minute walk, and the hot spring town within a 15-minute walk, so you can take a quick bath after dinner. When you go home, it's a good idea to call out to him as he will be in his room.

The hostel's owner (wife's) manners are very rude. She doesn't welcome or says goodbye to the guests. The husband is friendly and if you ask something specific regarding Nozawa onsen, he will answer. Both owners do not speak English. The rooms do not have locks, so you're prone to being robbed. All rooms are extremely cold (no heating) and the futon's are dirty (hair of people). There's only a shared bath and a shared toilet. The room we stayed in its kotatsu had a very sharp point so if you're not careful you could injure yourself. The only good point of this place is that the food is pretty good.

We took a tour that included a lift ticket. Nozawa Onsen seems to have many traditional guesthouses. …
