I usually stay at large hot spring hotels such as Viking, but this was my first time staying at Kameya Ryokan.I arrived early because I wanted to tour the public baths. Even though I arrived quite early, I was greeted pleasantly as soon as I entered the front door.As everyone has said, everyone including the proprietress was really kind and had a wonderful smile that made me feel at ease.Although the building is old, it is really tasteful and has the retro feel of a Japanese inn.I was very satisfied with the quality of the spring water in the large public bath and other private baths. Also, the food was so filling that I was worried that I wouldn't be able to finish it all, but I finished it all.For some reason, I requested a change of room, and they kindly agreed to it. Thanks to you, I was able to spend a relaxing time. One night wasn't enough, so I would like to stay again soon.Thank you very much for your help.

Highly recommend this place for other if you happen to be in Shibu town.To be honest, i was hesitance at first to choose Kameya as 1 of our accommodation on our road trip since the place seems very small. But turned out it was one of the best memory that my mother had on this trip. The place is operated by 2 grandmas and 1 grandpa. All rooms are spacious, has kotatsu, private toilet and sink. There are several baths on the 1st floor, especially they even have 2 open air baths which is rare in the town. It also in the walking distance to other public baths.Regarding the service, it is top notch. During our stay we could always feel the hearty welcome and warm hospitality from the grandmas and grandpa.Upon arrival, we could not get into the ryokan so 2 grandmas had come out by car to great us and showed us how to get in.My mother is vegetarians, and they did their best to accommodate her meal request. I was very grateful for that.More than that, on the day of check out, it was raining outside so they told us we could stay as much as we needed. We were melted by their kindness. Definitely we would stay again if we ever pass by this town in future. One note is you will need to call them to make reservation as they do not use internet by all mean. My husband called them and he could hear the sound of writing with a pen. You can always ask hotel staff who speak Japanese to call and them to make reservations on behalf of you 1 or 2 days before to make reservations, i do not see many other guests there so i believe they always have room available . Though my husband speak japanese, i believed they speak some English.

Although it was an old inn, it had a tatami room bath, an open-air bath, and other hot springs with different water quality. I was so satisfied that I couldn't finish all the food at night and in the morning. The public bath (No. 7) is right in front of the inn, and after many years, we finally got to the first bath.I conquered the ninth bath. I had fun visiting hot springs with my friends while it was snowing. Unfortunately, the fourth bath was under repair and there was no hot water, so I plan to aim for complete domination again next year🎵

They provide warmer service than a hot spring. If you go to Shibu Onsen, definitely do!

Shibu Onsen has a town bath that can be used for free, but it can only be used by people staying in the area. Therefore, if you want to enjoy hot springs, you will need to visit a facility where you can stop by for a day trip and enjoy the hot springs. This time, I stayed at this inn. There are an open-air bath, a family bath, and 5 bathtubs in the hotel. The hot water at Shibu Onsen is normally quite hot, like in Nozawa and Kusatsu, but here the temperature has been adjusted to a comfortable temperature, so it may be a good choice for those who don't like hot water.I visited during the daytime on a weekday, so I was able to enjoy it slowly as there were no other users. The price is 600 yen per hour, so it's a great deal.

🧐Hmm. I stayed at this inn because I was drawn to the reviews that it was a retro-style inn from the Showa era, but it turned out to be an inn built in the Meiji era. Solya You can feel the history, and the elderly couple take good care of you, but if you ask me if it's a comfortable space... I groan. The food was also good. However, I can appreciate the quality of the spring water in the public bath. Sorry 🙏 There is no repeat.
