I used to use it a lot when it was a camping ground, but they started charging fees and I avoided it because it was expensive, but since it was popular, I decided to use it as a day camp. The scenery was certainly spectacular, but I got the impression that there were a lot of campers with bad manners. As for why it's ranked high in Hokkaido and whether it's worth lining up to use it, it varies from person to person, but it seems best to use it quietly on weekdays.

Lake Shikotsu lakeside campsiteIt was greatThe kitchen and toilets are clean, so I thought it would be good for everyone from beginners to advanced users. I think the Koan campsite has a similar atmosphere in the Kanto region. It can't be helped because it's a free site, but a group of 5 young people nearby were having fun and making loud noises until late at night, which was disappointing. I would like to see the rules being enforced again.

I visited in early October. It was busy for a three-day weekend, and when I went to check in at 11am, there was already a line and it took about 15 minutes to get in. Even though there are a lot of staff, you have to get out of your car each time to register and pay. I think there is a more efficient way to use people than having someone come to check on you while you are waiting in line. Even though I made an online reservation, I got the impression that the on-site reception system was too analog and didn't handle things well. The campsite itself is beautiful and the lakeside view is beautiful. You can park your car next to the forest site, so I think it's convenient for people with a lot of luggage. Prices have gone up since the new manager took over, so I could have let them throw out the trash, but it was locked and I couldn't. The store at the center house is well-stocked and has a wide selection of items that you can carry even if you go empty-handed. It's a good campground, so I wish they would manage it a little better.Visited again at the end of August. Sorry, I can throw away the trash. Although the reception staff is still not very helpful, it is a good campsite.
