Beautiful and cozy hotel with awesome hot springs, a great restaurant, free simple ramen every late night (!?), and simple pleasant rooms. The surrounding area is awesome - but what a pleasant home base

Rooms themselves are nice as is the hotel space. The staff don’t care & when you’re paying ~¥52000 a night, it would be nice if they helped with the basics. There’s a lot of self serve (including getting your own pillows if want extra), no matcha tea ceremonies (these are normal to have at Ryokans) & the breakfast was good but the staff couldn’t really tell us much about any of this dishes. Fine, if they can’t speak multiple languages, have it printed out so you can at least know what dish is what for the kaiseki. The staff also moved us to a slightly smaller room than we booked to accommodate a large tour group which was really poor. The shuttle bus that takes you to the main part of the village is very limited. There’s also free things at random times like ramen @ 10pm. Really underwhelming overall experience.Overall, don’t stay here. It’s more expensive than it really should be & you can see all of Shirikawa-go in a day trip.

Location: Is it a cowshed or a pig farm? It smells from the moment you get out of the car.Room → musty smellFood: First of all, it's not delicious. Moreover, even if I got to the dining area on time, there was no guidance, including other customers. There were more than 20 people in line, so I guess it was a school trip? I thought so.Bath → public bath level. The family bathroom is small and there isn't even a place to wash. And because the waiting list is not clear, even people who come later end up getting in. Worst systemService → It was bad because the Japanese staff was not able to follow up at all even though it was said that the front desk was staffed by foreigners.Amenity: Only a toothbrush is provided in the room.Overall, the system, employees, and service were all at the lowest level in a long time.Of course, even if it's free, there are no repeats.

The food was made with local ingredients, the portions were small enough for women, and we enjoyed a lot of things.Drinks and popsicles are free in the hotel, and amazake is recommended. There are private baths available and the location is good. There are no shampoos, so you won't be able to stay long.

I really like the spacious rooms and the Onsen that the hotel provides so the 2 Star rating might be a little surprising. The reason why I give this is because of the lack of service from the hotel personnel. The hotel is really far from everything and we were not able to reserve any dinner or breakfast. We were only here for one night and tried booking dinner in the afternoon. We heard everything is full so we just ate our ramen noodles in our room, we thought we were just a little late with the reservation so we were fine. But to our great surprise we could not book the breakfast the evening before as well. Normally this is not an issue since you can just go outside but in this case it is just not possible to eat something without a 30 minute walk.I think a hotel this exclusive and expensive should be able to serve the guests for breakfast if they tried booking the night before, considered it is so far from any shop or restaurant. The location is not bad but a 30 minute walk to the classic Shirakawa-Go town, which is why most people are here for.All in all not the worst because of the spacious rooms and the Onsen but considering the price and louzy service not really worth.

I visited on October 5th and 6th.The accommodation fee is around 40,000 yen, including 38,000 yen + 2 drinks with dinner + bathing tax. Please note that the shuttle bus from Shirakawago BT is a little difficult to locate. When you exit the bus terminal toward the bus stop for Kanazawa and Toyama, there's a small 8-seater bus on the left. is coming. There are yukatas at the top of the stairs on the left side of the counter, so you can choose the one you like. All are cute. However, the room where the yukata is kept is dark, so it's a little hard to see the color.I thought it was a light blue yukata, but when I took it to my room it was yellow-green lolBy the way, in addition to the yukata, there are also regular in-house wear in the room. Chanchanko hanging in the closet? is very cute. The room is a good size and the view is peaceful of the mountains and river. All the accessories in the room are made of wood, like the bucket in the bathroom? The area (where you wash your face and brush your teeth) is made of ceramic, and the gargling cup is also made of wood and is very comfortable to use. There were only about 5 pillows left when I went. It seems like there are quite a few, so it might be best not to expect too much. However, I was able to get the pillow of my choice! There are 4 types of baths including a large communal bath and an open-air bath + sauna and hot spring bathIt has a slight sulfur smell, but is almost odorless. It felt a little hotter in the indoor bath.About 40 degrees? There was a sitting bath in the open air, but it was a shame that you couldn't see the outside view. Also, there is no place to bathe in the open air, so if you want to bathe in the open air, it might be better to go to a private bath. You can use the private bath if no one is using it.I took a bath in the ceramic bath, but it was surprisingly deep. You can see the scenery from the private bath, and you can bathe in the outside air, which was great. But the wooden bench looked like it was going to break. It looks like it's going to be dangerous if I put as much weight on it as I can, so I believe this will improve.Every dinner I had was delicious. Hida beef is melty...I think the sauce for the yakiniku and grilled vegetables was wasabi vinegar, ponzu sauce, and miso. The miso one was really delicious. It goes well with vegetables and can be eaten alone. As for the meal service, it feels like one staff member is in charge of each table.A young female staff member was in charge of the meal, and she had no problem explaining the food, and when I ordered peach wine after the plum wine, she said, "This is the peach version of the plum wine!" , I'm really happy about this.Even when we were finished eating, we had fun talking about things like, ``How was the Hida beef?''It has only been a month since I started working there, but the service was very good. You said you haven't eaten Hida beef yet, so I'd like you to try it!Yonaki Soba gets quite crowded. I was surprised, "There were so many people!"It might be a good idea to go around 22:30, as there will be a few seats available. The flavor of the night naki soba was light and soy sauce-based, and it was delicious.Breakfast is rice and miso soup with lots of small side dishes. The miso soup is prepared in a pot, so it doesn't get cold, which is really nice. The miso-yaki eggplant grilled with leaves was very delicious. If I was at home, I would lick miso. The side dish you can choose is mackerel mirin-dried? I asked for salted fish. Shiokawa didn't have a fishy smell and was easy to eat, and the mackerel was properly deboned and had a lot of flavor. The amount of rice was just right. After checking out, we used the shuttle service from the hotel to Shirakawago BT at 9:05.The shuttle bus seats 8 people, so it was a little overcrowded, but we were able to make it through two round trips. If you are taking the express bus departing from Shirakawago BT at 9:20, it would be a good idea to check out early and get on the shuttle bus early.*Large luggage such as carry cases can be loaded at the back of the bus.Overall it was a very nice hotel. The inside of the hotel wasn't that crowded except for the Yonaki Soba, and I think it's a good value for money for the food, room interior, and service at this level for under 40,000 yen.
