Kawagichiya Inn

An old lady like Sachiyo Nomura is surprisingly nice.

I used it during the Nagaoka fireworks.By chance, there was a cancellation, so I was able to attend.The facilities are old and there is no plumbing in the room, so there is a communal toilet, bath, and sink (^^)When I entered the room, there was a slight smell of cigarette tar, and when I turned on the air conditioner, there was a slight smell of mold.However, the hallway has a Showa-era smell, and the sliding door that leads out to the balcony is open, allowing the breeze to pass through, making it feel nice.If you step out, you can see the mountains and the occasional local train, which is soothing.The inn is located at the end of the rotary of Ojiya Station, and is in a great location where you can walk to the station in less than 30 seconds.The landlady is very kind and friendly, which makes me think that it would be a good idea to come here again.

I stayed here on August 4, 2022.It seems to be run by the landlady and the husband.The hostess was very friendly and I was grateful for her understanding of the customers' feelings. I asked several questions over the phone and on the day of my stay, and I was impressed by the heartfelt responses.The host didn't seem to be the type to talk much, but he answered customers' requests and questions accurately, and was very easy to get to the point and spoke quickly.There are many beautiful accommodation facilities with good customer service, but Kawagishiya Ryokan, which cares about people with a warm heart, is rare these days.What was especially surprising was that I received a phone call around 7pm on the day of my stay to confirm breakfast for the next day. I wasn't sure about when to wake up, so I asked to be ready at 9am. However, I woke up at 6:10 in the morning and was hungry, so I reluctantly asked if it was possible to change the breakfast time, but when I was asked what time I wanted, I asked if 7 o'clock was possible. Without saying no, I received a phone call at 6:50 to inform me that breakfast was ready. I arrived at the dining room earlier than anyone else and noticed the other guests preparing breakfast around me. It's a little different from my breakfast. Although the grilled fish was different, the ingredients and number of items were the same. I learned that the food is being prepared right before the reservation time in order to provide the warmest possible meal. Although the cooking methods were different, it was a very delicious meal.Despite the low room rates, the hospitality of this high-class ryokan is high.There is no washroom, bath, or toilet in the room, but the shared toilet, sink, and bath were kept clean and I never felt uncomfortable. I also felt that the guests were aware of each other.The management is run by two elderly people, so I think it's going to be a lot of work. Please take care of yourself and stay healthy.

It feels like an old-fashioned inn.The bath and toilet are shared, which is very convenient for school trips, training camps, family trips, etc.The hostess of the inn is very helpful and the training is reasonably priced, so why not give it a try when you have a short time?By the way, during the fireworks season, it seems to be almost fully booked.
