This is by far the best place we stayed during our trip to Japan. The location was wonderful and the cats next door was such a nice treat. The interior of the house is amazing and it was great to learn about the history of the historic building. Plus, there’s a great treat for Ponyo fans!

This is an elegant inn that you can rent as a whole, where you can enjoy the spectacular view of Tomonoura. If you are lucky enough to get a meal plan, you can eat at the nearby Iroha Ryokan. Otherwise, I stay overnight without meals and eat meals nearby. There are nice cafes and delicious restaurants nearby, and if you have any questions, the staff will pick you up at the designated location at check-in and explain various things, so you don't have to worry.Personally, it was the best choice for me to fully enjoy the atmosphere of this quiet port town.Although it is a one-story building, it is located on a slope, so the water area is located a little down the stairs. It gets very cold in the winter, but that also adds to the atmosphere. It was a stay where I felt the effort and spirit of people who love this city and want to preserve the old houses in their beautiful condition and protect the city.

What can I say... Simply outstanding! This is by far the most beautiful, wonderful, excellent accommodation I've stayed in anywhere in Japan and I wish I had stayed for longer than just two nights! The property is large and spacious. Everything is spotlessly clean and comfortable. The views are wonderful looking over the harbour. And to have, in the house, the Desk and Chair used by Hayao Miyazaki when he created Ponyo was the most magical experience. It was an absolute honour to sit at that desk, knowing Ponyo was created there. The cat shelter next door is amazing and the view from the kitchen window looking into the cat shelter is so sweet! I loved greeting the cats each time I left or returned to the house. And there were also plenty of cats on the street outside, too (most of them friendly!). The service was wonderful, I was met off the bus by a very friendly man who showed me to the house. Tomonoura itself is incredible, pretty and so calming and relaxing. The ancient streets and buildings are amazing and the ocean, rocky shores and beaches are outstanding. The whole community in Tomonoura is so friendly and I enjoyed walking around talking to people and feeling so welcome in the village. To think that I was walking the streets of Ponyo and Sosuke's hometown was so magical and wonderful ❤️

A while ago, a room without meals cost 24,000 yen for two people. It was a very expensive place, but it was a beautiful place.I was somehow satisfied until G came out the next morning...(´・ω・`)I gave it a ★3 because I managed to get rid of it and put it in the trash.

When I passed by without knowing it was a lodging facility, I saw several local cats relaxing outside the eaves.I didn't know anything about it, so at first I thought it was a private house where someone lived.I would like to spend my free time staying there someday. The accommodation is located next to a shelter for shelter cats where many cats live.Nearby cats are relaxing in the eaves.

A luxurious stay where you can rent an entire building, with a great view, and almost all the rooms are fully equipped with air conditioning and heating. It's spacious inside. For 80 years? It is said to be a house, but the inside has been beautifully renovated. The water area is especially clean. The bed was so comfortable that I fell asleep just after 8am and slept soundly until morning. There is an okonomiyaki restaurant called Teppan Kichi nearby and other restaurants within walking distance. It may close early at night. Also, the tea house "Funebansho" on the wharf is recommended for breakfast or lunch. You might need slippers because the floor might get cold, and we don't have a TV.

You can stay in an old folk house in a town with cats. The room had been renovated and was very clean and comfortable.Amenities were minimal, so it's better to bring face wash, lotion, etc.The rice is very delicious, so we definitely recommend getting a plan that includes a meal!I was very impressed with the chef's cooking! I want to stay again for dinner!

A whole house for rent. There is a rescue cat shelter next door, and local cats come to the front steps, soI think it's good for people who like cats.It is built on a slope, so you will need to use the stairs to go to the toilet etc. It's spacious, so I think it's good for a couple to use. There are insects, the toilet is a septic tank, there is only a shower room, and you can't cook.I don't think it's suitable for people who don't like things like that.On the other hand, I think it's good for people who want to relax while looking at the scenery and cat lovers. Also, it was a cold day, but the air conditioner was on so it was comfortable.
