Great, great place and Kenji is a such wonderful host! It is beyond comparison the BEST place on Shikoku Island we have stayed so far! The shared spaces are really well equipped and he has chosen the highest standard. Ask Kenji to recommend places to eat in the nearby town or do some light cooking yourself in the kitchen...

This was probably our favorite place to stay on our trip. The house is fantastic. Very traditional Japanese farmhouse with a great kitchen. The owner has a great eye for detail and makes sure he gets quality items for the guests to use.My only single complaint would be the restroom was quite small for a tall guy as I am.If he reads this I would recommend him to take out the door to the bedroom and put a wall there, then move the restroom door to the hallway so you create a bigger area. Thanks for a lovely time!!

I thought the appearance and environment inside the room was very nice, but I would not recommend it for people who are afraid of insects (especially spiders).

Cannot recommend Kenji’s place enough. Gorgeous traditional Japanese house in the countryside. I have never seen so many butterflies in my life! Do not hesitate to book this place! Rent Kenji’s bicycles and ride along the narrow country road, nature at its best. Easily the highlight of our Japan trip.

I stayed here about 3 years ago, and the feeling of the original Japanese scenery was amazing (^^)Shikoku is the place where God first descended. You can feel like you are in a Japanese myth.

I was in Japan for the first time at the end of February. And although I was only in the country for a short time, I had many fantastic experiences. However, staying at the Shimanto Riverside Hideaway was something very special. Was it the beautiful location near the Shimanto River? Was it the quiet and relaxed environment? Was it the authentic interior and the attention to detail in the room furnishings? Or was it the attention from owner Kenji Nakajima? I think it was everything together that will make my stay unforgettable. As I was on my way home, I thought back to the time at the Riverside Hideaway and the area by the river, and I firmly resolved to return there with my family at some point. It was wonderful.

The Shimanto Riverside Hideaway was an oasis of tranquility during our hectic trip through Japan. Right in the middle of nature. We stayed in the private 'cabin' next to the ryokan which has all the amenities you need (including a fully equipped kitchen and delicious coffee!). Additionally, Kenji is a fantastic host who makes you feel right at home.Kenji's Hideaway is the reason why you should visit Shimanto - aside from the fact that the region itself is also stunning.

I was so lucky to meet the owner kenji. He is very loving and turns on the heating every morning. When we don’t have to be cold, the guest house is well managed and everything we need is available. We can cook every night. He also cares about where we go to play every day, and provides us with information on attractions, very considerate...A place with a story, an interesting guest house, and a caring owner. I look forward to coming back next time. Thanks 🙏🏼

If you are planning your trip in the nearby area, I highly highly recommend it!!For several reasons, you’ll have to drive past a very narrow bridge which is definitely a really cool experience. The host Kenji is a very nice guy; he’s been very helpful and thoughtful and communicating in English is not a problem at all! Most important of all, the property is super clean and you are allow to use the kitchen too! ( My suggestion: Ask Kenji to help you order sashimi in advance. It’s extremely yummy and of a reasonable price.) You can feel that Kenji really does love this house and he’s been putting a lot of effort to make sure you enjoy it as well!!Thank you Kenji for giving us such an unforgettable local experience. Your house is even better than 5-star hotels!❤️
