2023.8.16 Used for climbing Mt. ChokaiI'm sorry to report this after the fact, but I was out of range and couldn't make a call even when I went to a place where it was connected. There are probably far fewer people climbing Mt. Chokai from here than from the Sea of Japan side, but the lingering snow and wetlands were beautiful even in summer.

We used it as a base camp for climbing Mt. Chokai. (2 nights)There are not many people climbing from the Hara River. It's a quiet place.I don't think there's a need to stay overnight if you're from a nearby area, but if you're coming from far away, you might be able to relax more if you stay the night before (and stay another night after climbing). It takes about 10 minutes to walk to Harigawa Hutte, the reception desk at the trailhead, and if there are no other guests staying, you may be able to ask the manager to let you in if you have a single vehicle. And it's all free(Basically, vehicles are prohibited)The kitchen and toilets are very clean and well maintained. However, there is no electricity, so it is pitch black at night. You can see the starry sky so beautifully.Pitching a tent on the deck requires some ingenuity as it is difficult to secure the guy rope. It might be a good idea to put it on the ground next to you.Anyway, it's a great place with a beautiful view of Mt. Chokai.By the way, it may not be suitable for family camping.PS: There is a back road from the campsite to the hut, but it is covered with bushes and is impassable.

I'm not camping. The view of Mt. Chokai and the autumn leaves from the entrance parking lot was beautiful. Sorry for the cloudy sky😅

Along the way, let's run on paved roads in the mountains! The parking lot is spacious, there is a mountain hut near a nice restroom, and I was a little surprised to see the cars and large buses of mountain climbers! When I looked up at Niyama from the mountain hut, I wanted to climb it. After this, we will have a preview of Houtai no Taki Campsite!
