Thank you Koyasan Guesthouse Kokuu! I had an emergency late arrival, and Ryochi personally came to pick me up from the bus stop, and gave me tips for how to spend the short morning I had in Koyasan before I departed for my trek, as well as where to get my provisions for the way. He very much cares for taking the best care of pilgrimage hikers.Breakfast was also delicious and plentiful. Best spot to pick to begin my trek 💕

We stayed at the guesthouse last week and had a great stay. The beds are comfortable, showers are well stocked with shampoo etc and have excellent water pressure, and the homemade breakfast and dinner were great. The guesthouse was super clean and had a lovely simple design aesthetic. The host Ryochi provided excellent hospitality - he went above and beyond to be helpful and accommodating, supplying an area guide, toys for our baby, managed our laundry, booked us a dinner reservation and organised a forwarding service for our luggage. The location is also great, it’s a short (and very scenic) walk through the historic graveyard to get to the nearby temples.I highly recommend staying here, and thank you to Ryochi!

A vacation to Japan is wonderful. But our highlight was this wonderful stay in Koyasan. Ryochi is a very nice and great host. Even before we arrived, he supported us with our journey and reserved a bus from Kyoto for us because the booking didn't work out for us. On site he gave us a great overview of the sights and restaurants/cafés using his own map of Koyasan. All the recommendations we used were really good. One evening we ate the very tasty curry that Ryochi offers in the guesthouse, the other evening he reserved a table for us in a delicious nearby restaurant. We found the location of the guesthouse great, as you can visit the nearby cemetery at any time of the day or night and still get to the town quickly. A beautiful and warm place in Koyasan. Thank you Ryochi. :)

Going to Koyasan was one of my favorite part of my trip around Japan, and being in the guesthouse Kokuu was the best decision I could take, the place is wonderful, location amazing and Ryoichi the owner a beautiful person, he personally gave me tips and showed me important spots in Koyasan. When I left, he rembered my name and we said goodbye in a way I never had in another hostels or hotels in the world. Also if you are architect or a designer lover, you will love the place. Pd: the breakfast was delicious. Jorge from Colombia.

It's actually a great place decorated with a lot of taste. The proximity to the really impressive cemetery also helps a lot. Unfortunately, the host was noticeably rude and bad-tempered all three days we spent there. And not just to us, but to all guests. We have had so many positive experiences in Japan so far that the contrast was simply huge. The people in Koyasan itself are also very friendly and helpful.

I stayed the night of 9/25/24. I had the Double Room with Loft. The facility was very clean. My room was comfortable. Very quiet at night. Ryochi, the innkeeper was very accommodating when I asked for an earlier than scheduled breakfast. Great overall value. Right next to the amazing Okunoin Cemetery.
