A place where you can eat delicious "fugu cuisine"The old-fashioned buildings were also tasteful and created a wonderful atmosphere. The garden is well maintained and is a very pleasant place to spend time.I was surprised to see materials from the wartime Niitaka Yamanobore being casually placed there.

It is believed that it was once a luxurious Japanese-style inn. I think the wood and furniture used were wonderful. It's a shame that it hasn't been properly taken care of as a mansion. I felt that if the things inside could be remade, it would be possible to express a wonderful world. I had a kaiseki meal, but I was concerned that it was very salty. The white rice and pickled Chinese cabbage were of a high standard and delicious.

We used it for a banquet with several people. This is an old building with wooden sashes and well-finished floors, which is what I thought of it as being old-fashioned. I don't think you can experience this atmosphere very often.

Although it was used for a memorial service, I was able to have a relaxing time as it was reserved for private use.

This is a Japanese-style inn that has been in business for over 100 years. The Chikuho region of Fukuoka Prefecture, which supported Japan's modernization through its coal production, was the richest region in the country at the time. Its prosperity is beyond imagination, and this Tokiwakan also had a large-scale theater.Today, only the inn architecture and garden from the late Meiji period remain in the quiet area. This alone is enough to convey the prosperity of the past, and the late Meiji period was a time when Japanese carpenters' skills reached their peak, and Tokiwakan is home to a variety of outstanding techniques. The reception room to the right as you enter the entrance is a fusion of Japanese and Western style, with a luxurious coffered ceiling. The chandelier is also from that time.Furthermore, on the second floor, the ``Koi no Ma'' is filled with elaborate designs of Sukiya architecture, and you will be surprised no matter where you look in the room. In addition, luxurious materials and designs are scattered throughout the building. The garden is designed so that it can be viewed from the two guest rooms, but at the same time it is also possible to walk around, making it a small strolling style garden with a pond of about 200 tsubo. It is open to the public free of charge every spring during the azalea flowering season. Normally, the building and garden are not open to anyone other than guests of the Japanese cuisine restaurant and guests of the inn.(April 24, 2020)
