The Dondokozawa trailhead to Houou Sanzan is to the left of the hot spring administration building (around the flush toilet on the map. If you walk a little further through the forest from there, you'll come to the side of the sabo dam).As others have mentioned, the road to the parking lot is about 500 meters away. I think I can move on, but I feel like it would be a little tough for a light two-wheel drive vehicle.Parking lots P1 and P2 have quite a slope, so if you plan on sleeping in your car, I think P3 and P4 are better (probably). The parking lots look far apart on the map, but they are not far apart at all. Please note that there is a parking lot exclusively for guests.

We used the parking lot for climbing. The road to get here is narrow and has many unpaved parts, so if you are a good driver, you may want to drive there at night. If you plan on walking early in the morning while it's still dark, we recommend coming before dark the day before. Even on paved roads, falling rocks have sharp edges that can cause punctures. If you don't look carefully when you pass each other, you might step on it.If you arrive before 12:00, you have to pay for the previous night's stay, but apparently on weekends there aren't many vacancies even at 1:00. The trailhead for Dondokozawa is on the left side as you face the inn building. If you are going on the Nakamichi route, go back over the bridge you crossed when you came and walk along the forest road for about 45 minutes, following the signboard pointing towards Mt. Yakushidake, and you will find the trailhead just in front of a dilapidated building. If you are going on a day trip, you will have more time to walk if you start walking early in the morning when it is dark. To pay for the parking lot, write your car number on the envelope at the back right side of the building and put the fee in.Don't forget your change so you don't have change!

For climbing, we used the parking lot (800 yen) and the day trip hot spring (1000 yen). The hot springs are small and there are no showers or views. Shampoo and body soap are provided, but I personally found it difficult not to have a hair dryer. The hot water itself was so good that it soaked into my tired body. I feel like 1000 yen is a little high, but considering the location, it can't be helped.DigressionOn the way back from the Houou Sanzan circuit, there is a shortcut that takes you across the stream to the tent site.If there is little water, you can cross.

Buses run from Nirasaki Station to here, so access is relatively easy. However, if you try to take a day trip by bus, you will have to spend twice the course time to make it in time. Day trip bathing♨️1000 yen
