Awesome place in the beautiful sleepy town of Hida Furukawa. It is situated in the nicest part of town and you have the small canal right next to the house full of koi fish (which you can feed). The neighbourhood is so quiet and peaceful. You don’t see many people around, but the ones you do see are incredibly nice and happy and cute. The house itself has been well renovated fromAn old warehouse and has all the amenities you could ask for. Private onsen as well. Futons are authentic but a little hard. Beautiful shops and restaurants around town - we enjoyed a place called Gen run by an older couple serving great Japanese food. Overall I would recommend staying here and not Takayama (as you can always take a day trip into Takayama) - so much beauty and calm and peace to be found here. The owner is also on a mission to revitalise the local economy, partnering with local shops and restaurants to help people experience the town fully, and incentivise more people to experience and even settle in the city. Can’t recommend this place enough!

IORI Stay Group provides very high-quality historic house B&Bs in the Hida Furukawa and Takayama areas.Honma B&B is located in Hida Furukawa's most worth-visiting Shirobi Old Street. The entrance faces a small river, and the large floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room look directly at the picture of plump koi swimming leisurely. It's so comfortable! The renovation of the old house in Baodong B&B has retained a lot of the historical traces and charm of the ancient house, and at the same time added many modern living facilities, so that you can enjoy the historical flavor of the ancient house without losing any of the convenience of modern living. The most recommended thing is not only the living room aspect, but also the spacious bathroom space with a unique outdoor bath. Finally, KAWANAKA B&B also retains an ancient warehouse door with a strong historical flavor. It serves as the entrance to the living room, which has a unique charm.Everything makes this B&B the most worthwhile private B&B option when visiting the Hida Takayama area!

Well worth the stay. The canal at your front door with Koi Fish is a lovely novelty.Beautiful town, much better than Takayama. I would recommend 3 nights here to properly explore the town and surrounds. The beds are traditional japanese futon which are very firm. The authentic japanese breakfast is delicious. This townhouse has everything you need should you wish to cook but I highly recommend making a reservation at Inaho. The couple who run this restaurant 1 min away are so delightful. The sashimi is the best I have ever had (and I was lucky enough to visit the old Tokyo Fish Market 10 yrs ago). Public parking is 6min walk away and you are welcome to park outside to drop off suitcases. Coffee, tea and an assortment of cold drinks are provided. Plenty of towels and water. Be sure to visit the woodworker across from the waffle house (3 min away). Support local artisans and he is lovely to meet, his creations are beautiful.

We had the most wonderful stay here. The houses are beautifully renovated, we enjoyed watching the snow falling from the cosy inside, and especially from the private onsen tub in the garden. Breakfast delivery service was also perfect! We would love to stay here again and would warmly recommand it to anyone!
