This place was perfect for my time spent in shiro-toko, normally they don’t allow foreigners but after talking with my Japanese friend I was allowed this once. The hospitality of the owner was tremendous. Very clean and well maintained facilities with a clean futon setup.

I was able to see a pair of Blakiston's Fish Owls hunting about 5 times from the room I was staying in! I was able to observe sika deer with their young at close range from my room multiple times!I was pretty lucky. This inn looks old and the facilities are old, but it is a very nice inn to stay in as it feels more like a mountain hut than an inn.The facilities for observing Blakiston's Blakiston's Fish Owl are very well equipped, and I heard that an associate professor at a famous national university fell in love with this inn and developed it so that it is not a burden for Blakiston's Blakiston's Fish Owl. The homepage contains quite technical information, so it's a must-read! There are also instructions on how to take good photos.Dinner is plentiful and quite delicious. The scallops in miso soup, rouibe, boiled kinki, and pork and mushroom in butter ponzu sauce are delicious. For alcohol, we have canned Sapporo beer. Breakfast is pure Japanese home cooking, with fried eggs and grilled salmon, natto and raw eggs, and milk. Hot and cold water, tea, and coffee are available free of charge in the morning and evening.Wi-Fi is available near the restaurant. NTT Docomo's signal is weak in the rooms. The bathroom has a bathtub and shower similar to what you would find at home, so you can take one bath at a time. You can almost hear conversations in neighboring rooms, so if you want a good night's sleep, you'll need to bring earplugs. However, if you think of this as a mountain hut where you can observe Blakiston's Blakiston's Fish Owl, you'll be satisfied.Overall I'm satisfied. The price was very low and I had a valuable experience. The staff at the inn are also kind and nice. You can hear interesting and valuable stories.

I made a reservation because I wanted to take a photo of a fish owl.It is divided into a dining room (observation building) and an inn.The prefab at the back of the inn is a dining room and observation hut.I'll check in thereWhen I arrived in the evening and was told my room, I was told that it was a room right in front of the fish tank! After dinner, I was filled with anticipation and it appeared four times!I was able to take more photos than I expected. The food was delicious and had more variety than I expected...Even when I'm eating, I'm so worried about the owl that I can't stay calm. There are a limited number of rooms available for lodging, so it is best to make reservations a little early. The foreigners in the group were quite noisy.

An inn where you can take photos of fish owls.As an accommodation facility, it is better to imagine a mountain hut. The food was delicious, the people at the inn were kind, and I was able to take some photos, so I was very satisfied. It is equipped with a photography hut, and fish are placed in a cage in the river and illuminated with a special light, so anyone can take photos of Blakiston's Blakiston's Fish Owl, one of only about 100 individuals in the world, with specs of about 600mm F4 and ISO6400.On this day, he didn't come easily, so I kept waiting since 8:00 pm, and he finally came at 2:30. It can't be helped because nature is our opponent.

November is a time when there are few guests, so I stayed for 2 nights and there were only 3 people including me.This year, brown bears were very active and appeared near the inn almost every day.It costs 11,000 yen for one night and two meals, but it's cheap because you can observe the fish owls from the window of your room. It's not a tourist inn, so don't expect fancy meals, but the food was sufficient. The hotel is already fully booked for the winter months of February and March, with many guests staying from overseas. For detailed shooting settings etc., see below.https://youtu.be/SmZyW4iYQEM
