This will be long because I am writing it in a report style. When I saw the flyer for "school camp" that I received from my elementary school, I didn't have a summer destination decided yet, and my husband was getting into camping because of Yuru Camp △, so now that the coronavirus has calmed down, a lot of things have been lifted. I made a reservation in August 2023 and stayed with my family of 4 (my husband, myself, a 1st year high school girl, and 5th grade boy).As soon as I received the flyer, I checked the website for availability in June, but I was nervous because the summer holidays were already fully booked and there were only a few days available. However, please be aware that unlike regular hotels, cancellation fees start immediately after the reservation is confirmed. Although you will be paying by card, please be careful about the balance limit as the payment will be made immediately. My family and I were looking forward to our first camping trip every day, but strangely, two weeks before we were scheduled to stay, a large, slow-moving typhoon was approaching, and we were constantly staring at the weather forecast and getting nervous. This is because the cancellation fee is 50% from 10 days before the date of use, 90% from the day before, and 100% from the day of use, so I have already paid nearly 30,000 yen, so I can't easily cancel because the amount is too large to cancel. However, in order to receive a full refund, the event would have to be canceled at the discretion of the officials, so I was constantly checking the website's announcements and was nervous, but luckily the typhoon had passed and the weather was clear that day. Now, it's camp day. Check-in was from 12:00, so we arrived at the site around 12:10, but there were already quite a few families who had checked in and set up their tents, and there wasn't much space in the parking lot. did….If you plan on transporting your luggage from your car to your tent, we recommend arriving earlier than the check-in time. The on-campus parking lot is one-way, so if you enter the school gate and turn right, the first parking lot will be on your right. Go through there and follow the narrow road behind the school building, and there are plenty of places to park between the school building and the gymnasium. However, the competition is more intense here, so we recommend that you park as far as possible on the right side after entering the first school gate, go through the check-in procedure at the tent set up in front of the school, and confirm where your tent is set up. So, if necessary, it might be a good idea to move the car to the back.By the way, the place where you can rent a set of carts was in the back parking lot between the gymnasium and the school building.Well, since it's called "supported Coleman," most of the rental items were Coleman, so it was stylish.I set up the tent right away, but there was something wrong with it, as it seemed to be a defective product, but when I asked the staff, the staff in charge of rentals contacted me over the radio, brought me a new one, and helped me set up the tent. Thanks to her help, I was able to prepare very smoothly. The staff was kind and reliable, which was great for beginners.By the way, my family came empty-handed and used a camping set of 11,000 yen (tent, inner mat, sleeping bags for 4 people, table and chair set for 4 people, BBQ, stove, 3 kg of charcoal, net, fire scissors, fire starter, matches). It was fun.But since it was summer, I didn't use a sleeping bag and instead brought a mat and towel from home. There was an inner mat, but if you want to sleep well, it's better to get a slightly thicker mat.Oh, when setting up the tent, the ground is hard and the pegs won't stick, so if you have a hammer and metal pegs, it might be a lot easier. We also had a BBQ, but there were too many events going on, and it was too hot, so we took shelter in the library, which was open and air conditioned, until it cooled down, so we didn't start the fire until it got dark before cooking the ingredients. I failed because it was difficult to see.We recommend BBQing while it's still bright. We brought in some ingredients, but there were quite a few that we didn't use.The roasted sweet potato turned out quite delicious, so I recommend bringing along some sweet potatoes, newspaper, and aluminum foil. If you have kids, have marshmallows too.As for the events, we chopped wood, went on a treasure hunt, cut logs, and stamped them with a seal. It was easy to participate in these activities because the staff guided us and helped us, but we were free to participate in the stargazing part, and we had to go up to the rooftop and look at the starry sky on our own using a telescope. It may be a little different from the image. But the air was clear and the starry sky was beautiful. There is a shower on the premises, and what was probably a toilet has been renovated and is now a private shower. It might be a little small for parents and children to enter. It gets crowded, so it's best to get there early. You can also buy snacks and ice cream inside the campus from a small counter in what was probably the former staff entrance office reception area. The ice cream was in the refrigerator, so I went around, opened the sliding door at the entrance to the staff room, went inside, opened the home refrigerator, and made my selection. The price was about the same as a convenience store. There were two vending machines, so the items were limited, but you could buy them without going to a convenience store. One machine was able to use electronic money outside. The other one was located near the shower room on the premises. After that, I went to bed in my tent listening to the sounds of insects.(It was extremely hot and it was hard to sleep, so it would be helpful to have a USB-compatible fan.)Around 4am in the morning, the sound of crying echoed through the night (lol)However, since there were many families participating in the school camp, everyone didn't make any noise, and we spent the morning thinking, ``It must be tough,'' as we lit the firewood and drank coffee in the morning as the night dawned. Had fun.(Even though it was 4 a.m., everyone woke up, got out of the tent, and started moving.)Although there were some hiccups, I'm glad that it was my first time attending a camp with my family at a school camp. There were no solo campers, but there were probably 4 families participating with their pets. It's been a long time, but if you're planning on participating as a family, we recommend the school camp as there are events for children, the staff are friendly, and the area is spacious.I would be happy if it was helpful.I hope you enjoy camping.
