I think it's a great facility because you can get discounts on nearby hot springs and tourist spots if you stay here. Also, the landlady is very attentive.

Needless to say, the location is perfect as it is in a world heritage site, and the surrounding area is quiet and relaxing in the morning.As for the food, not only the Hoba-yaki meat is very delicious, but everything that comes out is also delicious. The volume was also perfect.The service and rooms were very good and comfortable.The bath is a little larger than a normal private house, so if you have the time, I think it would be a good idea to use the Shirakawa-go hot spring.I would like to stay here again when I go to Shirakawa-go, and I highly recommend it.

Absolutely incredible customer service!! We were late coming into Shirakawa-go due to a scheduling mix up and were worried about being able to check in. One of the ladies running the place actually drove down to the bus stop to check for us, and caught us while we were walking to the hotel. We had quite a few bags with us and she helped us load them into her car, expressing how she was glad she found us. They still even served us dinner despite it being past the set dinner time--I had assumed we would have to go without! Both the ladies there were incredibly friendly and energetic, though they don't speak a lot of English. Definitely enough to get by, and they seem to make certain that they're able to explain all of the dishes served at dinner/breakfast. The rooms are clean and beautifully furnished, and the hosts are very thoughtful about everything. We had a bit too much baggage to fit on the tarp that protects the tatami, so they took the time to lay out another one for us while we were eating dinner. The food was great, I'm notably a very picky eater but I was able to eat almost all of the dishes they provided. Shirakawa-go is a small town, so everything is pretty close together in general. I wouldn't worry too much about the location of this place, it's a straight shot from the bus station and not any further than anything else. Kidoya is very homely, and if you're looking for a full traditional Japanese experience at a ryokan I cannot recommend them enough.

The hostel owners are very nice and able to speak English. Rooms, bathroom, toilet are clean and tidy. Both dinner and breakfast are Japanese-styled and delicious. Though there is no air-conditioner in rooms (air-conditioning is available in the lobby), it is quite comfortable to sleep with a fan in the room. Starry night is so unforgettable at night. It is worth spending a night at Kidoya.

Lovely experience and definitely a must try at Shirakawago. The hosts were lovely and patient, although they didn't speak english. They tried their best to make each stay memorable. Food served was fantastic too.Rooms were quiet and clean, with yukatas provided. Baths were comfortable and clean too!

I stayed there in mid-July.I checked in at 3:00 PM, and as I was lying in the room listening to Higurashi's voice, I fell asleep.I'm not sure if it was because of the gassho-zukuri structure or because I was feeling like a tourist, but I had a very comfortable night there.I'm thinking of coming in winter next time.

All three generations of women running this guesthouse were very kind, friendly understanding and helped having a wonderful stayed there. We could leave our suitcase upon arrival and after checkout so that we can enjoy the city until the bus time. The food was delicious too, nice local dishes. Sleeping at night was quiet, also we always have ear plugs in such conditions where the Japanese building has thinner walls. Everything was clean and they even provide pajamas to sleep in. Location is not near the bus stop however it is near the 3 houses that are so famous for this area and you are supposed to see them. at the total south of the village easy to walk there from this point. The lady also speaks English during dinner to explain what's in the plates. Very reasonable prices get breakfast and dinner and that these recommendable because there are not many other restaurants in town and they close very early. Would definitely stay here again and it was a wonderful experience visiting this village and having the chance to enjoy it in a quiet morning, without the screaming masses of tourists from abroad.

I was almost at the last minute to check in, so I called them while I was on my way, and they kindly responded.The accommodation had heating in the entrance, washroom, and changing room, and a hot water bottle in the futon, so I was able to spend a comfortable time.The host was a woman.They gave me detailed information about various things, and I would like to use them again if I ever come to Shirakawa-go again!

We decide to stay at this special house in shirakawa-go. The young and old lady also very nice and friendly. They serve dinner and breakfast to us. The also setup the tatami for us. The room was big. The toilet and room a bit cold. Is a good experience for kids.

My first time in Shirakawa-go. I wanted to stay in a gassho-zukuri building and managed to make a reservation through the tourism association's website. I was prepared for the cold, but it was still warm season so it wasn't a problem. Although we ate early, the rice was so delicious that we ordered 3 refills. There were many statues of ancestors on display, and that alone gave me a sense of history. It's an old folk house, so there are insects, and the plumbing facilities are pretty decent, but if you want to stay in a gassho-zukuri style old folk house, it's a good idea to understand that beforehand.

I stayed at this inn when I visited Shirakawago for the first time in 2007.Since then, when I go on my own, I appoint "Kidoya" to stay.Convenient location for walking around the village, close to the center of Ogimachi.The center of Ogimachi is restricted to tourist cars depending on the time of day, but only guests staying at the hotel can drive into the inn's parking lot (if you don't say anything, you'll be directed to the village parking lot, so don't stay overnight) (You must personally identify yourself as a person)Please note that this is a gassho-zukuri style guesthouse, which was originally a farmhouse (sericulture) building separated by sliding doors, so don't expect too much from the facilities.If your purpose is not to enjoy staying in a gassho-zukuri guesthouse, we recommend a tourist hotel a little further away.

When I was an elementary school student, my parents brought me to see them about three times. When my child was about 6 years old, he saw a photo of Shirakawa-go hanging in our house (a photo taken by his parents) and said he wanted to go there, so starting from the following year, we went there every August for over 10 years. Ta. The homemade magnolia miso for breakfast is exquisite ✨ The bath is made of cypress. When my children were small, they didn't have much to eat and couldn't eat all the meals they served, so I would just give them rice and miso soup and give them my parents' side dishes. At that time, the child's accommodation fee was cheaper 😄 The landlady is a nice person ✨ The food is delicious ✨

We stayed at Kidoya because we want to experience staying at a Gasshoku. I love old ladies but the old lady who welcomed us was so rude. When we asked for water she pointed us to the washroom faucet and then after I asked where can we get glasses for drinking, she muttered impatient words in Japanese and telling us that she already showed us the teacups inside our room---just to let you know in Japan they served you different cups/glasses if it's water or tea they're serving and there's nothing wrong in asking but this old lady was so impatient and rude. It says 2-star hotel but it was far from it. I have no problem drinking from tap but just do not treat me rudely for asking for a glass. The good thing that happened there was the dinner, when we came back we were not expecting so much because of the old lady initial treatment and attitude but we were surprised and very happy about the dinner. The old lady's daughter is very nice and accommodating. She even gave us free rice! During the night, they used the old type gas heater and it makes noise alarm about every 3-4 hours so our sleep was so bad. Overall, I'm not very happy with the stay.
