We had a fabulous stay at Kyo No Yado Botan. The place is designed in a traditional style, but feels newly renovated and very clean. Sturdy stairs, nothing creaking, all appliances feel new. This accomodation is larger than most other similar properties, so you do feel the size of rooms, hallways, bathrooms is a lot more spacious. We also liked that there is a toilet on each floor - so if you need to use it at night, you don’t have to go downstairs. Also liked the fact that air-con was very quiet - and so we were comfortably cool at night without any noise. From the moment you enter, you get a feeling of a lovely home - comfortable, solid, aesthetically pleasing. The beds were comfortable and good size.We are a very tall family and appreciated not having to bang our heads on typically low doorways - at this property the doorways are the standard size for westerners (which is higher than traditional Japanese doorways). We enjoyed the location also - a super quiet street, but about 300m away from buses that take you to most places in Kyoto and a large supermarket. Also a good selection of restaurants within a few hundred metres. The owner was super responsive and accommodating. We very much appreciated that.We would definitely be happy to stay here again when we return to Kyoto.
