This was such a unique and awesome experience!!Our host was so friendly and welcoming. The stay mixed together the atmosphere of an old Japanese farmhouse while having modern bathroom amenities. The food was delicious, and comprised of small portions of various items but by the end of each meal, we were always full. It was peaceful and serene, and nice to take walks around the village early in the morning and late in the evening without the crowd. The host spoke enough words in English and we used hand signs, the language barrier did not make our stay difficult at all.I would highly recommend staying here. We started the booking process by directly emailing the host from their website and using google translate.

I wanted to spend the night in Shirakawago and not be part of the day trippers. This was a great place to stay! Dinner is served at 6pm, breakfast at 7:30am, and check out is 9am. She will keep your luggage until you are ready to leave. We arrived in Shirakawago at 3pm and left on the bus the next day at 11:30. It was perfect. In the evening we were able to put on the provided yukata and take pictures around town in front of the buildings. A wonderful stay.

18000 yen per night per person including breakfast and dinner. Shared bathroom… with all the guests …Breakfast at 7:30 am, Dinner at 6;00 pm, check out at 9:30. Decide if this suits you.Typical Japanese stay, rooms, food, schedule. Rooms only separated by thin walls so hopefully your neighbors don’t snore. You will hear the kitchen noise at 5 am during breakfast preparation. Still a great place to experience Japan. Typical rooms, good food and the village is peaceful during the night. Location is great . So you need to compromise… 3 to 4 stars because of the schedule and some noise . 5 stars for the rest
