In August of the sixth year of Reiwa, summer was over 30 degrees, a trip to Shirakawa-go. A friend arranged accommodation, but he said the room had no air conditioning! At that time, I couldn't help but gasp...We arrived at about 1 pm and were ready to park the car and then go sightseeing in the village. At this time, the landlady just came outside to welcome us. When I entered the house, I thought it would be too hot, but why would it be so cool? July 14th probably has nothing to do with Japan. It turns out that there are two air conditioners in the whole house installed at the beginning and end of the corridor. They need to be used to cool the bedroom and dining room. Since it has been in operation for a while, it is cool to soak indoors. The gassho house, which has a history of over a hundred years, is small in size and can accommodate more than eight people in two rooms. Probably due to manpower issues, they only receive one group of guests per day. After the landlady introduced the facilities in the house and dinner time, we went out for sightseeing. Due to the hot weather and too many tourists, I quickly went back inside to rest. Although there is no air conditioning in the bedroom, it feels more than ten degrees cooler than outside. It’s time for dinner to eat local cuisine. I’ve stayed at two B&Bs in Shirakawa-go before, and each of them had the “Hida beef miso grill”. This time, it’s grilled Hida beef, with Sichuan fish, mountain vegetables and other five flavors. After the meal, we queued up to take a shower, and then went to bed to sleep. The Japanese miso grill appears at breakfast, and the grilled enoki mushrooms and tofu are used with rice. Thanks to the proprietress for her attentive hospitality, we spent a leisurely day.

This place really gives us a nostalgic feeling. We stayed there during the rainy season in Japan. Imagine yourself sitting in a 140 years old house absorbing the history that the place could offer while listening to the rain outside. It does bring back memories. The hospitality from the lady of the house was just right. She gave us the highest privacy possible during our visit. Fed us to the fullest of the local food both dinner and breakfast. Love the experience.

A traditional Japanese inn. 3 bedrooms available. Shared dining room, toilet and bathroom. Which makes the place authentic. The meals are delicious and the welcome impeccable. If you come here, a small gift from your country of origin will please the owner.

The landlady is very considerate, and the hot spring is ready. The temperature is maintained at a certain level, which is very good in summer, which is not something you can enjoy in Taiwan. Meal times are also on time, and it is necessary to abide by all the rules of the B&B. Women's toiletries are very well prepared, which is unexpected. surprise
