Looking forward to a lovely weekend in Meißen, we checked into the Hotel Schlossberg.We moved into our rooms under the roof, which was a bit tedious but doable with the heavy luggage and no elevator.As we looked around, our anticipation dimmed considerably. The furnishings are very old, the last renovation seems to have been years ago.The worn desk hid a switched off, emptied refrigerator, a glass drawer with a champagne glass and a kettle with two cups and a plate. Too little of everything when occupied by up to three people.Likewise, no tea bags, let alone bottles of water or any small token that welcomes the guest.There are no roller blinds or curtains to darken the windows. The scarves attached for decoration were not suitable, and one or two curtain rods would probably have fallen on us.But what got our tempers heated was the lack of cleanliness and hygiene.Dust everywhere, on the canopy above the bed, behind the sofa (looking to see if the antenna cable was plugged in).But especially in the bathroom. A shower cubicle with loose sliding doors and years of dirt, a broken fan flap with lots of fluff, dust on the lamp, dirty cobwebs hanging in the heater, cracked tiles and one or no decent mirror shelf. There are also remains of a holder that was probably intended for towels. Missing hairdryer or makeup mirror. The two bottles of shower gel that were waiting gave the impression that they had been forgotten by the previous person. We, with a normal understanding of cleanliness and professions in which we deal with people and hygiene on a daily basis, found these conditions very unpleasant.A basic renovation is urgently needed here.The breakfast room, on the other hand, was rustic and with attention to detail. Food is freshly provided at the small buffet. You can still make a few small changes. The kitchen, however, has a strange impression with its swollen fronts. But well, we survived two nights.If I may also point out that payment of the bill is not possible, card payment is not possible. Astonished, I was directed to the savings bank and withdrew the necessary amount there with fees.All in all, a sad affair, especially since the hotel has much higher potential from the outside and in this location.

Good value for money, very good breakfast buffet, like many old buildings the rooms are as soundproof as many modern hotels (this was only a minor inconvenience), I had some problems with the WiFi, but that was probably my fault. Room was comfortable. Recommended! Very central!

The hotel is actually quite quaint, centrally located to the city center. Unfortunately the hotel appears unkempt, dingy and oily. The furniture is worn and outdated. The outdoor areas are unsightly, not inviting.

We sat there for the wine festival and enjoyed wine and good liver sausage sandwiches 😋😋😋our service was nice and funny. For us it was a nice place to stay. Vincenz Richter's Kerner is recommended 👍👍👍🍇

Great little hotel with a lot of charm, the rooms are OK, but the price-performance ratio is right, even a very decent breakfast, were in Meißen for a wedding, also in a great location, if Meißen we'll be there again
