The staff was very friendly and child-friendly.The restaurant staff looked after children and adults very nicely, despite the large event.The food was very tasty and worth the price, the breakfast buffet was well stocked and had a variety of goodies.Complaining at a high level: Some of the lights and shutters didn't work.

We celebrated our birthday with wellness there and I have to say the staff there and the dinner were excellent. The waiters were so nice, we got little gifts like champagne and a small birthday cake and two delicious fries on the house. You felt very valued.The rooms could use a refresh otherwise everything was ok. The wellness area was nice and the pool was very large.

Reminds you of a small forest castle, tastefully furnished. Room and bathroom modern and clean. Beds were comfortable. Pool way too cold. Renovation backlog shower in the spa area! Normal standard breakfast in a cool winter garden. Not very pleasant to have breakfast there! The hotel is out of the way, ok as a starting point for excursions. We wouldn't stay there again because the pool was far too cold, that's not wellness

This hotel turned out to be completely disappointing. From the start, the staff was overwhelmed and disorganized. The service left a lot to be desired in all areas. What was particularly noticeable was the hotel's inability to accommodate larger groups, despite prior arrangements. Instead of flexibility, we encountered rigid regulations and a lack of accommodation. Even the simplest requests were ignored or treated unprofessionally. Overall, this hotel is by no means suitable for guests who value good service and flexibility.

Very nice room, bright and clean, interior of the hotel in a country house style, very nice and clean, great atmosphere for relaxing, but unfortunately the Roman steam bath was not available to us.

Beautiful hotel in an idyllic forest location. Rustic furnishings with lots of wood, chandeliers, comfortable seating, similar to a forest castle.Great wellness area, very clean, great sauna and large indoor pool. Wellness basket in the room with sauna towel, slippers and rental bathrobe.Our comfort double rooms were very large with a great view of the forest, the bathrooms were newly renovated, one even had a bathtub.Staff very friendly and helpful.Breakfast was great, there was something for everyone, and the café variations from the machine in the winter garden were also really tasty.We didn't find the renovation backlog stated in many reviews to be a problem at all; after all, the house has a centuries-long history.The service in the restaurant was unfortunately disappointing on the first evening, our food was initially forgotten and then we were not given the opportunity to withdraw from it. There was a good 1 hour and 45 minutes between the soup and the main course.Food high quality, a bit expensive. So we ate out the other evenings.

The plan was to enjoy something for your wedding anniversary…... and to be honest, I don't want to throw a good time after a bad evening, so this review will remain sober, short and pragmatic.After breaks of more than 45 minutes (they were playing cards at the neighboring table immediately after ordering), the waiter came again to ask if everything was OK.At this point I actually wanted to skip the dessert and just pay/go.However, when I told the waiter, the dessert came to our table completely unexpectedly and very quickly.The sight then prompted me to briefly summarize the evening for the waiter:A good salad, a nicely fried veal steak, so far so good.(although not served at the same time and with two people at the table)In addition, at least fresh vegetables, unfortunately at room temperature, Röstitaler from the frozen chest and some hollandaise sauce from the Tetra pack over the broccoli florets.When asked whether the chocolate cake with a liquid center was also a finished product, the waiter answered in the affirmative, i.e. also from the frozen food chest.After that evening I took a closer look at the hotel's website, here you can read:The Ringhotel Mönchs Waldhotel offers pampered palates and culinary beginners...... Yes, that's really what it says and probably describes the target group, culinary beginners!The price for this 3 course menu was high in contrast to the service.Best regards

The hotel is actually quite nice and was probably once very opulent. In terms of location, it is quite quiet and nice. Pretty far away from the hustle and bustle. The indoor pool is spacious and nice. The rooms are also spacious but also a bit old.Since I was here for work, it was an extreme disadvantage for me that I had absolutely no network here. No cell phone reception, no internet, neither with work cell phones nor with private cell phones. I only had one bar of very slow WiFi in my room and the connection kept dropping out. So unfortunately it's no longer an option for me until there's either good WiFi or a decent network here.

Sometimes the feeling in the wonderful but scary film crept over me"Shining" with Jack Nicolson when you walked through the long deserted corridors here.But no, you were just staying in a very German four-star hotel from the seventies, and not in the mountains of the USA.The Black Forest has been experiencing a severe decline for years, unfortunately. You can drive through places like Todtnauberg and see the apartment buildings from the 1970s that are mostly uninhabited and closed. Just one place among many. Due to the stricter regulation of the pension insurance institutions, many spa clinics are on the brink or no longer exist and many consider the Black Forest to be uncool. Wrongfully.Mönchs Waldhotel still exudes the old optimism of past decades, but is now in need of renovation and is therefore actually overpriced.You either look at the usual faces of employees who arrive here for one or another conference or see mostly overweight pensioners sitting disgruntled in the lobby. Sometimes a young family with a baby gets lost in the rooms.It was amusing for a few days, but it doesn't need to be repeated.The weak Wi-Fi, the expensive but mediocre restaurant, the limited selection of the breakfast buffet, the toilets that had to be cleaned twice, the closed steam bath, the half-drunk bottle of Riesling in the minibar, the television that only turns off when you unplug the power cord and the repeated sentence "that wasn't included in the delivery" are just side notes.If you feel like taking a trip back in time, this is the right place and that's okay.However, an absolute no-go is the fact that there are no charging stations for electric cars during these times. If you look at the charisma of the house, it's a sad but consistent omission.

When we arrived at the hotel around 3 p.m. after a long journey, we would have liked to order coffee and cake. Unfortunately only coffee was possible. Too bad. I think the house is short of staff. Breakfast was ok, but not exceptional.

If you like a rustic furnishing style, you've come to the right place!My girlfriend and I had a room on the 3rd floor and were thrilled.The room was very large and spacious.We had nothing to complain about the cleanliness of the room.Particularly worthy of mention was the large balcony with a good view directly into the Black Forest.The breakfast was very clear, but we would have liked more cheese selection and savory spreads.The coffee was from a large fully automatic coffee machine, but the coffee wasn't that good for our taste.We only visited the swimming pool and the wellness area in the evening; it was always quiet and relaxing here.On the first evening we attended dinner, unfortunately the waiting times at the table were quite long because there were too many staff.Nevertheless, the service made a lot of effort.All in all we were very satisfied and would love to come back.

Unfortunately, there was little on offer for a wellness hotel during our stay:- Steam room was closed for maintenance- Sauna wasn't running either and couldn't be turned on yourself- Massage appointments could no longer be booked (there is no indication on the website that it is recommended to book in advance)- so all we had left was an unspectacular pool; But it didn't have to be a wellness hotel for that...The hotel itself is getting old, unfortunately our room wasn't really satisfactorily clean (shower wall, window, balcony door dirty, balcony itself very dirty), and our room was the last in the hallway, where unfortunately the WiFi didn't reach and the view was just the grass of a hill was...The breakfast was okay, but the taste was nothing special and there was little choice.Overall, I would be interested to know who gives this four stars. I come from the industry myself and can say: completely unjustified.
