Before I start, if you compare price performance, then the Forsthaus is fully recommended!We were guests at the forester's lodge with our dog over the weekend. We are not demanding, so we came here without any expectations.First of all, the parking lot is right in front of the house and is very well maintained. Our key was left at the door, as agreed.The room was big enough, separate toilet. The shower is integrated into the room. Takes getting used to, but good. Washbasin directly in the room. In short, no bathroom. That was very unusual for us. You have to like it.Beds were super comfortable, the adjustable mattresses are cool, but I would prefer a bathroom. ;)The terrace at the room is okay. You basically share it with the other holidaymakers. The view, especially now in autumn, was really beautiful.The location of the hotel is really perfect for exploring the area.Breakfast is served at the place. We thought that was really good. Organic and really rich and delicious. Our dog was allowed to come with us and for that alone we give it 5 stars!The only negative thing, and I want to be honest about it, is that the cleanliness of the room is difficult. The toilet was barely cleaned. The mirror cabinet by the sink wasn't clean either. Cobwebs in the corners. I think it needs to be worked on. This is important to me personally. That's why I have to deduct two stars.

Very good starting point for hiking activities. Practical equipment. Half board on request with a fixed menu was well prepared and served on time. Hosts very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is showing its age well. Very positive: good muesli for breakfast. Otherwise a rather simple dinner.Unfortunately, the host didn't stick to the agreed price and added more to the bill. Too bad.

A really wonderful little hotel!We were on the Hexenstieg and had our first accommodation here.The hotel definitely scored points with its host, who took care of our hospitality in a very friendly manner! He's really nice when you know how to deal with a lot of information at once.All in all, a great accommodation for hikers?

We walked the Harzer Hexenstieg. The accommodation is ideal for this. Check-in was flexible by leaving the key at the entrance, which is great for hikers. Overall, the hotel's furnishings and furnishings are a bit old. We had booked half board, but the menu is set regardless of any intolerances. Overall it was tasty. It is positive that you have the option of making your own packed lunch free of charge at breakfast. Overall, a solid accommodation if you don't mind the ambience and a very talkative host.

A small hotel that is getting a bit old. The shower was very small and the entry height was very dangerously high. The water pressure is very weak which makes showering very difficult. It is very dangerous especially when getting out so you don't slip. The beds are electrically adjustable and comfortable and clean. The toilet is separate in the room. Very narrow and therefore very difficult for slightly larger people. Breakfast was very good and tasty.

The hotel in a quiet, idyllic, central location with clean, functional furnishings and very good cuisine made our stay from June 1st to June 14th, 23 an experience according to our wishes. The boss of the house, Mr. Weiß and Senior, with her endearing and friendly nature, gave us advice on sightseeing. The food was excellent and plentiful. We are delighted with the hospitality and can highly recommend this facility. It was a successful and very nice vacation. Gladly again! Thanks

If you are looking for a cheap place to stay overnight in Altenau so that you can go on a few hikes in the area, the Bio-Hotel Zum Forsthaus is the right place for you. For example, right at the entrance to the town you can quickly reach the Harzer Hexenstieg. The hotel is a bit old, but the good food with a rich breakfast and a really tasty, home-style dinner with organic products and the very friendly and helpful hotel operator more than make up for it!Particularly noteworthy are the very comfortable upholstered beds with motorized slatted frames and reversible mattresses, which are ideal for relaxing after a long day of hiking. There is also the option of preparing a free packed lunch from breakfast at the table.All in all, a good accommodation with an unbeatable price-performance ratio!

We spent a few very nice days here. A very cozy hotel. The room with balcony was very clean, quiet location and the bed was simply amazing. We had half board, simply delicious. The food was very tasty and the breakfast was super plentiful. Thank you again for the nice conversation with Mr. Weiß. We felt very comfortable. A thank you to the entire team. The location and the hospitality of the Mende family are simply top. I got a lot of great tips for excursions and things to do. All the equipment was very well explained to me and the hosts were always available if I had any questions. I can recommend the Forsthaus.The rooms are furnished with the bare necessities. Hygienically everything is great. Ms. Mende cleans the utility rooms every day.Value for money cannot be beaten with this accommodation.
