The first room was still dirty and various garbage bags were still lying around. There were tampon wrappers lying around in the bathroom and only one room key worked.The second room was cleaner, but it didn't have a trash can and there was a lot of trash under the mattresses.

Booking and check-in were quick and comfortable. The view from the room was very nice, with a direct view of the Olympic Stadium from the distance. We stayed here for a concert, so the tram connection was ideal.As far as cleanliness goes, it was just about okay as a mild dust allergy sufferer...the closet surface, bathroom fittings and parts of the bed frame were dusty, and one of the towels for us had a questionable green stain (hopefully not mold?). When asked, there is probably only one cloth per person, so I asked for two large cloths (there were only small ones for us) and we used them, then it was okay.We didn't really spend time in the shared public areas and therefore can't comment on them.What was a bit strange was that housekeeping knocked twice on the day of departure, even though we never ordered it; So to everyone who wants to spend the night here: Please remember to hang the sign for quiet at night on the door handle, that could prevent that.We assume that the reception was a little stressed by the school classes who were probably staying overnight at the same time, so what was perhaps interpreted as unfriendliness wasn't a problem for us. Most of the time the employees were friendly to us.All in all it was enough for us because we only stayed for two nights, but next time we would look for another hotel.

Dirty city hotel. Dirty walls in the rooms. Hallways very dirty and unkempt. Breakfast simple, frozen baked goods, no working coffee machine. Little choice.Connection to the train was good. Still absolutely not a recommendation!

What regrets!Ideal location and spacious rooms at a reasonable price, but poorly cleaned (by an external agent according to the explanations received*) and, in addition, poorly soundproofed.Despite numerous requests to the reception (reachable only in person since there are no telephones in the rooms), an email to general management and an appointment with the site manager, the 3 nights spent on site were synonymous with: suffering the cries, agitations and noises from the various neighboring rooms.Although advertised as low-cost in services, this type of detail should not be tolerated by management.The hotel describes itself as family friendly, but based on my experience, I cannot recommend this hotel to people who want to visit Munich and go to bed at a reasonable hour, without having to worry about noise, let alone to families.As for services like breakfast, it was OK but nothing more.Damage!*beer capsules and peanuts lying around under the mattresses, dust, traces of food on the headboard, hairs on the sheets, empty soap in the shower and toilet, traces on the tiles, dirty windows.The lack of cleanliness seems to be a recurring problem given the many comments left by other customers.In order to try to still enjoy our stay, we went to buy cleaning wipes at the supermarket, 10 minutes away, in order to clean the floor, the toilets, the sink and the immediate and accessible surroundings of the beds ourselves.Stayed in October 2024

The only positive thing about this stay for us was the location and the friendliness of the staff; unfortunately everything else was not very satisfactory. As soon as we checked in, we were allowed to enter a room that not only smelled unpleasant, but was also very dirty. We were quickly offered a new room, but it was also in the same condition. We found hair in all 3 beds, all surfaces were covered in stains, endless dust, underwear from one of the previous guests was on the closet, stains on the toilet, mold in the shower... This condition is the same throughout the entire hotel - in the hallways Carpets have been laid that have not seen a vacuum cleaner for a long time and have many large stains. Our comment at check-out that the cleanliness left a lot to be desired was dismissed with a smile and the words “Yes, I know.” We definitely wouldn't come back.

We booked at Meininger relatively spontaneously because the apartment we had actually booked was canceled shortly before our arrival.We lived in a very large family room under the attic with a great view of the Munich skyline. Personally, I was missing a shelf space near the shower in the bathroom.The room is only cleaned upon request, which was generally okay for us. A small note in the bathroom provides information about this. I loved the large number of sockets, including right next to the bed.The noise level in the hotel was okay. Many youth groups also stay here, which is why it can get a little louder.The breakfast is also okay for the price. In addition to rolls, there were also croissants and pretzels. There were also various spreads, fruit and vegetables as well as yoghurt and muesli. There are no hip cafés in the surrounding area, which is why we would definitely recommend booking breakfast with it.The hotel is easy to reach with tram lines 20 and 21. There is also an underground car park.TIP: There is a great Bavarian restaurant in the district, the Neuhauser Augustiner, a 15-20 minute walk away. You can eat and drink great here.

Reception didn't tell me much of the property or what was available. I got my room on the main floor. You can't crack the windows with all the people smoking outside. Unfortunately theres a TON of guys smoking cigarettes outside the main entrance (they swarm the doors so its hard to get your luggage past anyway). They prop the doors open with their garbage cans so the cigarette smoke fills the lobby and down the main hall. My room smelled like cigarette smoke all night long. I know this is common in europe, but not this amount for this long. My inhailer could not keep up and it was miserable to breathe. The hallway doors are not soundproof so people yelling and laughing down the halls will keep you awake. Other hostels have a 'quiet' policy or reminder. This place didnt care. The people in my room got back at 1 in the morning and were talking on the phone in the room (or on the toilet) until 230am. Again - other hostels have a 'quiet policy' but this place didnt mention anything. It's not the other girls fault I had to be up at 7am, but a little courtesy would have been nice. Or a reminder by the hotel for 'quiet times' or 'talk on your phone in public areas after 10pm' would have been nice. This place is 'okay' for a light sleep, but not good sleep. It's pretty clean, and the beds are pretty decent. It's not too far away from Old Town (the train is a straight shot and only 20 minutes), but otherwise this would not be my first recommendation in the future. They need to do something about the swarm of guys smoking and blocking the doors. The outside was filthy. They need to do something about all the beer bottle caps all over the shop floor. They need to remind people of general courtesy when sharing space with others. This all could have been combined with everyone here for Oktoberfest - but that doesn't exclude you from manners. I had no clue there was a kitchen, breakfast, internet, or other rooms at this location. I paid WAY more than the value I got for this.

As someone who has backpacked often & stayed in multiple hostels, I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience besides this one.. which makes me feel obligated to write a review. First off, the staff wasn't helpful at all. They just looked at you like you were stupid when you asked a question. They seemed stressed & annoyed. Secondly, the cleaning staff came in our room 6 different times trying to clean a bed of a person who wasn't even checked out yet at bt 8-9:30am when there checkout time is stated at 11am... the girls bed they were trying to clean was even more annoyed & it woke everyone else up in the room bc the cleaning staff comes in yelling & talking loudly. Thirdly, they dont have a door on the bathroom so literally EVERYONE in the room can hear you when your washing your face, washing your hands, brushing your teeth etc. Which is Extremely annoying, especially if you are trying to sleep bc even if someone is trying to be quite they literally can't bc there is no door... so you hear everything & the bathroom light shines right out & lights up the whole room anyway. Also, if your a girl who doesn't want to change in front of everyone, then the only place you can change is the shower room that is alway wet or toilet which smells like someone pissed all over the floor. Not ideal... Also, if you unfortunately get the bed, right next to the other bed like me, there is no locker for your belongings to store them in. So you can't lock anything up in your room. And the same bed is right across from the bathroom, so when anyone uses it at all, the light shines right in your face and you hear everything, bc again, there is no door to the bathroom..🤦♀️🙄 Overall, 0 out of 10. I would recommend to everyone to save there money & go elsewhere. Seriously, horrible horrible experience.
