I was pleasantly surprised. From the outside, well, but in the new building, oh-so. New rooms, very modern furnishings, everything looks clean. Breakfast simple but sufficient for the price. Why only 3 points for the location. If two taxi drivers independently told me, without being asked, that I should avoid the location after dark, especially “Am Stern” would be very uncomfortable. Unfortunately, that fits with my overall impression of the city. Unfortunately, things have turned very negative. Too bad.

The Deutsche Hof is a modern hotel in Kassel that scores with new facilities and friendly service. The rooms are pleasantly quiet, especially those at the back. The breakfast is good and filling, and the free parking is a plus. In terms of price, it remains within reasonable limits. The hotel is centrally located, which is convenient for visits to the city center. Unfortunately the environment is not the best. There is a drug trading center right next door, next to the church. The city center itself seems rather dreary and uninviting.I would still stay here again for the Documenta because the location is ideal. For a normal stay, however, I would prefer accommodation near the Fuldaaue or Schönfeld Park, as the environment there is more pleasant.

The hotel is easy to reach on foot from the train station. The rooms are large (see photos). The room prices were also very good. Kassel itself is: well, everyone should decide for themselves. …

The hotel is very centrally located in downtown Kassel, directly opposite is the Lutherplatz tram stop. Unfortunately, as is well known, you sometimes meet passers-by in the area, especially in the evening hours, who you would perhaps prefer not to meet; in particular, there is obviously a drug and alcohol problem in the area. However, the hotel is not at fault here, so this is of course not included in the overall rating.I lived in a superior double room. This is very spacious, has a large bathroom with a bathtub and shower as well as two sinks, and the sleeping area is also very spacious. There is a large closet with plenty of storage space to store your luggage; the only thing missing from the room is a safe. There is also a small refrigerator as well as a spacious desk and a television. The orientation of the room towards the street obviously causes a certain level of noise, but this is not a problem with the windows closed and the air conditioning activated. The breakfast is very extensive and sufficient, the service both in the breakfast area and at the reception is very friendly and courteous. Questions or problems are answered immediately and a solution is sought. You can park at the hotel for a small price of ten euros, parking spaces are available there depending on availability, you can even park in the hotel's open garages. Unfortunately, a late checkout would have meant half the price for the night, which I found too expensive and therefore didn't accept. Overall, the hotel is a clear recommendation; I would come back at any time.
