Hotel Kranenborgh

We were guests in this hotel for 2 days, from the first moment we felt not as guests but as friends. The host couplewas so warm, just great. The rooms and guest rooms are furnished with a lot of love, just to make you feel good. The breakfast was plentiful and was always served later. The home-baked cake should also be mentioned. Great, this hotel can only be recommended.

Very nice little hotel! Great central location! There is a beautiful beer garden right next to the house that appeals to young and old alike and is highly recommended. Very nice staff throughout the house. We felt very comfortable and will definitely come back again!

More appearance than reality. At best, this is a small guesthouse with hotel prices (160 euros/night). You won't find the hotel flair that is suggested on site.When we arrived in lively Steinhude, we looked for the reception. The beautiful house facade is not the “hotel” entrance. There is a boutique here. The helpful lady: “I’ll call the woman”. After 10 minutes the friendly woman was there and led us through the "back entrance", which is also the entrance to the restaurant toilet belonging to the beer garden, into the "hotel area" and gave us the keys to the "deluxe room" we had booked “ with lake view. We got to our room via a steep staircase. We were shocked because there was an indescribable heat in the room. No wonder, since it is a “roof-only room” at the top of the roof with a small window that is still barred because of the mosquitoes. We fled to the beer garden and called for an air conditioner. This was also brought. But since it reportedly only contained two ice packs, we shouldn't expect too much from it. That's how it was, at midnight it was still over 30.5 degrees. When we wanted to use the bathroom, we were met with an indescribable smell of feces. The bathroom smelled terrible. I wanted to turn on the ventilation: none of that, the bathroom/toilet room in this deluxe room has neither windows nor ventilation! In my distress, I ran water into the sink and shower to fill the siphons and eliminate this source of odor. Ventilation would only have been through the bedroom, which we understandably wanted to avoid. Use the toilet only with a towel in front of your nose!That night I sent a WhatsApp and an email describing the situation. There was no one in the house in the morning except the helpless, friendly breakfast lady (breakfast was delicious). We fled even though we had booked and paid for another night.Afterwards we wrote again to Haus Kranenborgh and also to the managing director. No reaction at all. Not a word of regret, not an apology, not to mention financial compensation. We have never experienced anything like this!

Great hotel to switch off from everyday life...

Nice little hotel with a family atmosphere... we felt very comfortable and will come back...
