We stayed in the youth hostel for 4 days. It is a small youth hostel. The location is good as it is easy to reach by public transport. We had a 5-bed room for 3 people. In our bathroom the plaster was loose in several places and the tile joints were black. The Bocksberg was easy to reach on foot. The adventure mountain was very good. Make sure you bring enough money with you as the attractions are great. The youth hostel is really getting old. The games in the games corner were no longer complete and the colored pencils were all broken. The breakfast was OK. I found dinnernot that great. We've eaten much better in youth hostels. But the staff was very nice and helped. The reception was rarely staffed. In the evenings, one person was responsible for the kitchen and reception.

An outdated JH in a central location in the Harz. You still have the typical JH flair... Service and friendliness of the employees were very good, we were accommodated in an annex building with a dog, very small room, bathroom OK and clean, stairs very steep, which was fine for our dog! (but maybe difficult with an old dog?) Some seating outside, where we ate even when the weather was great. The food was also delicious and there was enough choice! Everything was very uncomplicated there! Rooms could really use some renovation! After all, you're only there to sleep anyway! We would definitely come back!!!! We are also happy that dogs are allowed there!

Everything is chic. Unfortunately there are rooms that face the street. You have the feeling that cars are driving through the room...

We had booked the 3-day family break and got a family room with extra access and our own small bathroom with shower and toilet. The furniture is a bit old, but is still clean and functional.Very friendly staff, there was a relaxed atmosphere. The food was always plentiful, appealing and tasty. We were able to book dinner on site. There was a TV in the dining room so that we could watch the England-Netherlands soccer broadcast together with the other hostel residents. That connects.

The rooms and especially the doors are quite old and some of them no longer work so well. The door to the toilet was quite loud because it was stuck. There was a musty smell in the rooms when we arrived, which wasn't particularly inviting. The “mattresses” are only made of foam, which causes back pain for some people. Unfortunately, sometimes there is no one at the reception, but there apparently wasn't much staff either. But the employees are quite friendly. The food is good, there was also a salad buffet every day. The new grill hut is beautiful. Unfortunately there is mold in one refrigerator and it doesn't work properly. Unfortunately, the refrigerators were also out, despite the hut being reserved. The terrain is ok so far

For a JH I think it's quite expensive considering the features. But the employees were very friendly. Everyone should look carefully when booking a room. Standard varies, especially for families with children.

We use the hostel for 5 nights as accommodation for a geological excursion in the Harz Mountains. It is well suited for this or for hiking.Parking spaces were always available. As is often the case, the problem is the other guests. Teachers don't have their school classes under control and describe the children's breaking of the night's rest until 11 p.m. or midnight as "free expression of children's personality." If you're looking for peace and quiet, you should go somewhere else, but you'll have to pay more for it. The hostel management should assert itself here and demand more discipline from guests of this type.
