With 100 hotel nights per year, a hotel has to stand out particularly well for me to take the time to rate it. The Hotel Jungstil in Darmstadt has done it. However, because it is the worst hotel I have ever had in Germany. And that with 4 stars. But first, here's what I was able to experience there this week:Check in:The reception is only staffed on an hourly basis. Really now? For a 4 star house and a room price of 148.00 euros per night. But luckily I arrive at a time when the reception is busy. Well, it should at least be at 5:45 p.m. according to the notice on the entrance door. Unfortunately the door to the hotel doesn't open. Nobody there. But luckily there is a check-in machine next to the door. This also finds my reservation. Glad! Unfortunately, I was happy too soon. Despite a confirmed reservation, I am first asked for a credit card, which the machine rejects in the next step. It doesn't matter: I have 3. 5 minutes later I'm at a loss because the machine rejects every card. Spoiler alert: as I found out at checkout the next morning, the credit card request shouldn't have come up for confirmed reservations. Looking around at a loss, I discovered a sign on the hotel door indicating a 24x7 telephone number if you arrive at a time when the reception is not open. Everything will be fine now! Think about it: forwarding to a mobile box without an announcement. Still left a message in the hope of still getting to my room. I could have saved myself. I'm still waiting for a call back today. Luckily, after a while a hotel guest who has already checked in arrives with a key card. I sneak into the hotel lobby behind him. Lo and behold, there is a key card with my name on the counter. So I have room 246. Phew, check-in is done.WiFi:Finally in the room, quickly dial into the WiFi to have the last WebEx session with a customer. But wait a minute: no one could tell me how to get into the password-protected hotel WiFi. There was no one at the reception. But you're a professional: the username and password are certainly some combination of my name and the room number. Far from it. After a while I find a book with information about the hotel. It also contains a description of how to get into the WiFi. It's just stupid that I have to go back down to the lobby to print out a ticket using a printer available there. So put it back on, take it off, print it out and then finally log into the WiFi.Room condition:At first glance everything is good. Well at least this. But when I make my bed and put aside the pillows neatly piled on the headboard, I quickly realize what this tower is supposed to do. It's supposed to cover up the pretty tattered headboard. See photo. Sit down, six!Breakfast:The small Hotel Büchlein had already helped me with the WiFi. I'm sure I'll also find information about when and where breakfast is served. Breakfast? None! Under the name “Business Breakfast” you can get a croissant and a coffee next to the sliding door at the hotel entrance. Water and fruit are also there. If you really want breakfast, you have to go to the hotel opposite and you can have a proper and good breakfast there for a really cheap 9.00 euros. And I mean that here without irony. It's just stupid when the nice colleague wants to collect 12.00 euros from me when checking out. Instead of the 9.00 as stated in the description.last but not leastIf the hotel's company car is parked in the best parking space right next to the hotel entrance instead of leaving it to the guests, then in my opinion this speaks volumes about the hotel management. Especially if it is also the hotel's designated disabled parking space. It doesn't work at all! Unfortunately, it doesn't help when the colleague at the reception completely foregoes charging for breakfast after all of this.

Hotel location is really good, you can make a ten minute walk to lots of important places. In my case it was a 8 minute walk to the place I was working. There are a few things to to (mostly historical) near the hotel. …

Great service all around. I really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and coffee. The internet was not too reliable though.
