We ended up here for a short trip to the Harz with the family (2E+2Ki).Reception very friendly & check-in easy!House B is purely a bed house. An easy walk from the main house. Sufficient parking space in front of the door. The room is really anything but ordinary! Very spacious with two bedrooms (1 double bed / 2 single beds), plus a small anteroom - and a very modern bathroom with 'experience shower' and shampoo/soap/good towels! Laminate and tiles everywhere. A TV and a table for 4 complete things. At first glance everything seems clean, the beds are fresh - they were ok for sleeping, but not as comfortable as at home. A new slatted frame would be smart here.At second glance, the little things become apparent that bring the stay down from a 'very pleasant surprise' to a 'it was fine'.The used furniture is definitely not hotel quality. The cupboards are hardly usable, everything gets stuck or collapses. It's the cheapest version and poorly assembled. This can be repaired/fixed - or exchanged for something durable. Some of the ends of the wallpaper (above the heater) are coming off the wall (place a small wooden strip between the window sills - there will be peace forever. A new remote control for the TV would be good, as the battery cover is missing. The laminate is bulging in one place - a A small relief cut on the door frame would prevent this. In the small bedroom and in one place on the light ring, a little paint wouldn't hurt.Strongly recommended - and actually the main drawback - would be the option of darkening the windows. This can now be achieved really well and cheaply using pleated blinds (available made to measure for a few euros).Regarding the bathroom: The toilet brush, the trash can and also the toilet seat need to be replaced as quickly as possible. The no longer attractive white silicone on the black floor tiles in the bathroom should be replaced with black and the main joints should be repaired (and a few old dowel holes at the same time) - then there would be peace and quiet in the long term. We don't know why the broken bathroom door frame wasn't at least quickly repaired with two screws and a little wood glue. This leaves a risk of injury, and not just for children. It wouldn't take an averagely talented janitor more than a morning to turn 'the bottom line is' into 'wow, I didn't expect that'. And all of this at a really manageable cost.Let's come to the biggest drawback: We had booked breakfast, which was taken in an Italian restaurant halfway through the journey. Costs 9.90 or 7.90 (children). I wouldn't do that there anymore (I would go to the really good 'Forsthaus' nearby for 2.00 more). Positive: The selection of cold cuts and especially fruit is definitely more than OK! However: The only egg dish (indefinable cold scrambled eggs) and the bread/rolls on offer were at best a bad joke. The coffee 'worked', was filter coffee kept warm - and at least better than on the plane ;-). But everything would have been accepted somehow if it hadn't been for the 'service', consisting of a young Eastern European employee who hardly spoke any German. There's no other way to put it: her completely unfriendly and dismissive manner makes you feel completely out of place. We are paying guests - not supplicants. I am very familiar with the personnel situation in the hotel and tourism industry, and I also think it's good that unskilled people are offered work. But this is backfiring and the operators should think about it. This lady definitely doesn't belong in the restaurant industry. And so this is the taste that remains: With very little effort and overcoming a - presumably existing - operational blindness, you could really satisfy the customer very well - and get more out of it for yourself as an operator. Overall it was OK, but unfortunately no reason to come back at the moment.

Rooms functional, spartanly furnished. But what more do you need for a motorcycle weekend ;-)

Price performance top room. Own clean modern bathroom. There was also a large, comfortable bed. The only two problems that were annoying were the WiFi and the television. WLAN was displayed but didn't work for a second on all three devices. There was a television, but it had no signal on all channels and there was only a small remote control with hardly any functions.

The hostel (House B) belongs to the American Diner with the other hostel, at least the reception is there and breakfast also takes place there in a side room.Since you don't have this information beforehand, you're pretty confused and searching. After we got the key at reception at around 4.30 p.m. (check in from 3 p.m.) we came to a room that had not been cleaned and was untidy. The two cleaning ladies changed this within 10 minutes, but they still don't want a good picture.A few things were immediately noticeable in the room: protective caps for sockets were missing and the conductors on a lamp were also exposed. Quite tricky for a family with children, as these were the bed lamps, which don't hang very high. When asked when it was best to go for breakfast, the only response from reception was: "It's best as early as possible, otherwise the buffet is empty."If I pay for breakfast and it is offered from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., then I MUST still have the chance to have breakfast at 9:50 a.m.
