The bed wasn't even wide enough for me to turn from left to right without fear of falling out. It was only a single room, but a bed can be wider.

We were on a tour in the border area and booked an overnight stay here through a new digital provider after the receptionist told us that it was cheaper to book there than directly at this hotel. On the day of our overnight stay we arrived at 4:30 PM. The receptionist enthusiastically took the file from us because she immediately recognized my name. With a strange look she said that we had booked incorrectly and had to pay again for this night. Apparently due to an error I had booked the previous day. She knew we wanted to book today because she had spoken to us on the phone. So we paid but got nothing. That was a disappointment in our holiday. I think that could have been resolved quite leniently because there was hardly anyone in the hotel. My wife immediately said; we are not going to do this. I thought I could make another attempt and start a conversation, but the receptionist was unrelenting. We got up immediately. What a stupid woman. Now she doesn't get happy customers who still wanted to pay the regular price and won't have breakfast and write a bad review in addition to all the other bad reviews. How stupid. It also looked unkempt to me, but we can live with that if mistakes can be dealt with in a friendly and lenient manner. Unfortunately for us, but certainly for this hotel.Trip.com approached us and tried to mediate. The hotel wanted to be emailed. Trip.com did that but no response was received. This confirms the value of this hotel. Trip.com wanted to accommodate us by reimbursing half of the costs with Tripcoins. These are only valid for 18 months and can only be exchanged within the industry.People pay more attention. Read reviews and use them to your advantage, otherwise I'll waste everything for nothing.

Unfortunately, the stairwell in the back building is very noisy and many guests sit there until late at night - sleeping at night is very difficult - the stairwell was also extremely dirty

Very quiet location and extremely cozy and beautiful surroundings. Very very good breakfast. Very reasonable prices when booking directly via the hotel website.Rooms are clean and contemporary, although some of the decoration is left in the 1980s. My room in the main house was an interesting mix of 19th century and 1980s furniture. You have to like it, I do.Unfortunately, it was only during the night that I noticed that the building technology was making some noise.

The hotel is getting old; It seems that you can no longer manage to keep everything in good condition, especially the facilities, inside and out, give rise to a depressive mood. The breakfast room was unclean and worn in many areas, as were the hallways. The employees smoke in the back yard, especially right in front of our room, which doesn't make the best impression. The room was clean, but the furnishings were getting old and no longer up to date.All in all, we were charged a price of 149 euros for the booking including breakfast, which was far from meeting the quality that you would expect for such a price.

The weekend before last I was at the Hotel Duden with a friend. After last night I went home with over 50 documented bed bug bites. Informing us twice (about the situation) and asking questions (about the damage caused) did not lead to any further contact (even after 5 days). The only information from the woman at the reception: The cleaning staff vacuumed the mattresses!!! In order to protect others, I am writing the first negative review of my life here.

Overall, the Hotel Haus Duden in Wesel is okay. The rooms are clean and tidy, which ensures a comfortable stay. I would particularly like to highlight the lady at the reception (we checked in at 7 p.m.), who was really nice, professional and accommodating today - a real plus point for the hotel! All in all, a solid choice for a short stay.

2 stars are enough here, anything more would be a bit much. The rooms are in great need of an overhaul and could also use a new coat of paint. The lighting in the room is underground. There is no air conditioning when it's hot outside it's also hot inside (smack the same). The breakfast is ok.

I am angry and disappointed about:The constantly extremely noticeable deterioration of the entire offer:- all services - restaurant closed - without notice before arrival- No drinks offered at temperatures of 30 degrees- 1 uncooled bottle of water on the room board if there is a minibar- clearly worn furniture- a poor breakfast with bacon like charcoal and inedible coffee (it used to be really good years ago)!For this imposition we should make a subsequent booking for our sonA proud 16 € will be due - a scandal!4 stars - I'm laughing my ass off!The house doesn't even deserve 3 stars!

The historic place itself is beautiful, the breakfast is ok, the service at breakfast and in the restaurant is friendly.The window sill was full of dead flies, we had to get the cleaner. The skylight was completely dirty and there were cobwebs in the bathroom. But the real flaw is the bed. 140 cm as a double bed is a disgrace. My husband is 192cm tall, I am 175cm. In the end we lay mirror-inverted in bed. I with my head at the foot, he with his head up. We were completely exhausted because we couldn't sleep well because of the narrowness. Never again! We were a large group at a family reunion and we agreed on the rating.

What a dump!!!We booked a comfort double room. We found the room, but not the comfort.The mattress is a full 1.40 m wide. No, not one half of the bed, but for the entire bed. What is supposed to be comfort about it is not clear. Neither on the website nor in the booking confirmation was this “comfort” feature mentioned; otherwise we would not have booked. The corresponding complaint at the reception was a wasted effort, and the lady there wasn't really interested. I gave the bed to my wife and slept on the couch. However, sleeping on the furniture was out of the question, and after 2 days we left early, unnerved and I was overtired.The insect net in front of the window was a holey hobby craft with so many cracks and holes that the mosquitoes had no problem getting in and unfortunately also found me, which was definitely not conducive to getting a good night's sleep.The shower has a 30 cm high entrance, perhaps that was the comfort component.I'm over 70 and don't find something like this comfortable.The toilet was also a comfort highlight. A wonderful play of colors in a wide variety of brown tones is revealed beneath and behind the inner edge of the toilet. I don't know when or if it was ever cleaned here. Just disgusting.Strangely enough, the “feeling of endless inspiration without compromising on comfort” advertised on the website didn't really materialize for us.I can't report anything about the advertised cuisine. We tried to reserve a table for dinner on two days, unfortunately in vain, they were fully booked. I haven't yet realized that as a hotel guest I can't even eat dinner there.The breakfast buffet is not worth any special mention, a normal continental breakfast without any higher standards or any highlights. You can live with it for 3 days.I don't want to go on about the long crack in our room wall, worn skirting boards, amateurishly made dowel holes and paint defects, stained carpet and the many other signs of neglect, it fits into the deplorable overall picture.The 4-star plaque at the hotel entrance may have been justified during Konrad Duden's lifetime, but today the hotel just seems completely run-down and neglected to me.Wasted time, wasted money, every youth hostel offers more.

I stayed in this hotel for one night before my flight back to Canada in Amsterdam. The hotel is all one level so no steps. The check in was great, the staff was friendly and they spoke English very well. The room had a fan but no A/C which was Ok for sleeping. The restaurant has good food but not a huge selection. The area around the hotel was very quiet, like being out in the country so that was nice. The bed was very comfortable, one of most comfortable beds of any of the hotels that I stayed in while I was visiting Europe.

Very friendly staff that always tries to fulfill all wishes.The food in the Duden Stube was excellent👍. The hotel is very quiet and has plenty of parking spaces and a large green area around it. The breakfast buffet was more than sufficient, if you don't find anything there it's your own fault. The coffee was very good👍. The rooms are big enough and yes a renovation is slowly needed and air conditioning in the rooms would also be nice. All in all, I would love to come back again👍🙂.
